I suppose that’s something that will come out at the licensing hearing, of which I can’t seem to fathom why the application wouldn’t go through? Can Jack prove they're malicious?

That’s your opinion, but with the support he’s got on Facebook etc seems like the majority are with him. Ahh well, clearly you don’t support local small businesses.Seems like that's the place for Jack to make his arguments, not Facebook.
Oh dear...Ahh well, clearly you don’t support local small businesses.
Then contact jack directly instead of sitting behind a fake alias, unless you don’t have the interest in, as you say, helping him...My point is that the opinion of the facebook mob doesn't matter to the planning committee and Jane from Parkside calling something a discrace doesn't actually influence the outcome. I'm actually trying to help Jack realise he needs to present a more professional face to his business.
I'd ask you not to cast aspersions but that's clearly the order of the day.
I'm out.
Woah there JT, there is a right way and a wrong way, I have objected to planning permission in the past and as such would be very uncomfortable with a developer setting a facebook mob on me. There is a system to deal with objections that should be played out and that is not on Facebook. Your escalation because someone disagrees with you is very much out of proportion. Then contact jack directly instead of sitting behind a fake alias, unless you don’t have the interest in, as you say, helping him...

Name & Shame is often the best way forward! After knowing Jack for many years, he takes everything he does with a lot of thought and would not, in my opinion do this if it was not to genuinely prove a point.
Is Gentleman Jacks anything to do with the Devils Taphouse ?Coming thick & fast at the moment, currently under consideration -
Stafford - Great British Beer Festival, 149 Newport Road. The Devil's Taphouse new operation.
Stafford - The Ship Aground, 3-4 Lichfield Road. Previously intended to be in Market Street
Eccleshall - Gentleman Jacks, 12 Stafford Street.
Norton Bridge - Izaac Walton Brewhouse, Eccleshall Road. Applying for on & off licence
Stone - Crown Wharf Brewery Tap, Crown Street.
Feel free to start new topics for any of them if you want. At least one has already been mentioned on the forum.
Surely being opposite casa, next to the grapes and just round the corner from icon means they'll already have way more idiotic drunks than their doorway can house any day of the week? I can't see how a real ale off license will have any effect whatsoever.
I remember in the 1970s being told "If you can't beat 'em Join 'em".Based on Jack’s own comments on Facebook the objections from Express Curtains do not appear to be remotely malicious or personal. It appears they are just fed up of being increasingly surrounded by bars and takeaways and the hassle that can bring. Obviously it’s a business decision for them to remain there given that end of the high street is increasingly the nightlife “hub” of the town. But the licensing application process exists for people to state their objections and summoning a mob rather than explaining why your business won’t be contributing to the kinds of activity described by the objector is very poor.

Maybe Express Curtains should consider if it's time for them to change direction, say "curtains to curtains", apply for a license to serve alcohol and actively become part of the nightlife “hub” of the town.

Yes. Not sure of the details but I believe that GBBC is to be a bottle shop type premises for the Devil's Taphouse

You never know what 'teenagers' are capable of....Well, precisely. It would appear to be a very straightforward argument for Jack to make to the licensing committee. But instead he decided to take it to Facebook, like a teenager. If teenagers still used Facebook
