Well I'm under 40 and getting my second one on Sunday. More risk of me having a blood clot on the pill.

I follow someone on twitter who thinks that there's enough supply irrespective of AstraZeneca. Apparently NHS bookings are likely to open next week.

But you must have an underlying health condition or at risk? I don't know many under 40 who have had their first let alone second.
I suppose they are just being cautious until more research is done, as you've said they have enough of the other vaccines so why not use them for now and then further down the line use the Oxford for boosters.
I have said you have more chance getting a blood clot from the pill to people that are concerned and just like when you take the pill its weighing up the risks vs the pros.

No, I have no health issues. I had it because I'm essentially a front line health worker at a vaccination centre.

I don't think women in general get a lot of information when they're given the pill, and it's given for a multitude of reasons, not just as contraception.

Don't mind me as I go off on a tangent here.

Lots of talk about how the blood clot risk isn't really that bad, and there's a higher risk on the pill. Ok, logical.

Why in that case then is it perfectly acceptable for women to face that risk every day of their lives with no outcry whatsoever but when the general population faces it, it's an outrage?

Its not going to stop me getting the vaccine or using hormonal contraception, just a thought about different levels of acceptable risk. I hope the same level of study goes into developing alternative contraceptives to avoid clots in future as has gone into providing alternative vaccines for a much lower risk.

I'm under 40 and have received 1 dose of AZ. I fully expect to have AZ for my second dose (I'm guessing in around 4 weeks). I know they are doing trials with mixed vaccines for 1st and 2nd does but but until the results are in I believe you are only FULLY vaccinated once you have received 2 does of the same vaccine.

Just got home from Kingston Crntre having 2nd AZ jab. Usual efficient, well organised service. A lot busier than last time & the queue was about 15 mins to get into jab room but out within about 40 mins from driving in. No side effects yet:buddy:
I couldn’t see anyone with short hair & a bright red complexion :keke::keke:

Good news for those hoping to spend this summer (or for them winter) in Grytviken, as the government adds South Georgia to the very short list of green list destinations, along with such popular holiday destinations as the South Sandwich Islands and Ascension Island.

And if you are planning a holiday in Grytviken remember to get plenty of holiday snaps:

We’ve both had no side effects at all this time, not even the usual flu jab arm ache. Very strange as we both had muscle aches, nausea & flu like symptoms as well as disturbed sleep for about a week after the first jab.
I hope there was vaccine in the syringe. :keke::keke:

Most folk I know who had any reaction had it after only the first or second jab, not both, so sounds about right.

Also ,I didn't realise how British an expression "getting the jab" is until I asked a European friend if they were and they had no clue what I was talking about!
