Visited Cannock Designer Outlet this morning for something to do on hubbys week off. Wrongly expected it to be not so busy if we got there early...
Big queues on surrounding roads and entering the Outlet , then around the full carparks hunting for spaces.
.

I’ve just got back after a very pleasant few hours. I got there just after 4.00pm, no queues to get in, loads of car parking spaces so I parked near the entrance and walked straight in.
It was very clean and well laid out and it was so nice to be somewhere where there were actual shops rather than your typical High St full of charity shops or boarded up buildings.
The only queues were outside the Nike store, Haribo and a cosmetics shop but none of those shops interested me anyway.
I definitely wouldn’t visit in the day time, I picked the right time to go.
The only negative thing that I could say about it was that it was much smaller than I thought so I did walk round quite quickly. i didn’t buy anything although I could have spent a fortune on shoes and handbags.

I believe the owners have bought a neighbouring field and if this phase goes well then they may double the size in future.

Enjoying a drop of red.

I didn't realise Haribo shops were a thing! Still, it is Cannock...

I actually couldn't understand why you would visit a Designer Village then spend half an hour queuing for Haribo when you can go to B&M any time and pick them up for £1 a packet.

Still, each to their own.
There was a MASSIVE queue outside Haribo when we went that morning. Biggest queue on the outlet. ( hubby had no idea what Haribo was as well )

Learnt my lesson now, don't go early in the day! Especially when all the car parks aren't open and queues all down approaching main roads waiting for spaces.

At least I managed to find the sort of jacket I'd been looking for , the only one in black & my size on the final reduced rail , and fit perfectly in Mountain Warehouse. The only shop ( apart from Boss) without queues to go in at the time

Couldn't believe the queues around Starbucks as well, snaking round and round the building.

Hubby had been about to be lynched by the Cannock mob , when he went to wander into Pavers. Didn't notice that was 'exit only' and about 20 people further along queuing to go in at the ' in' entrance :lol:

There's precious little fun shopping as far as I'm concerned but add queues to get into shoos and the very thought of it makes me shudder.

You're far better off having a nice walk on the Chase.
That's what we did on the way back , enjoyed a walk on the chase.

Just wishing we'd have stopped off at Springslade lodge as we first passed it in the sunshine, rather than deciding to go back to it after . Never got there in the end as the heavens opened. Saving that treat for a drier to day now.

For the chocolate lovers though, the Lindt shop was very impressive.
Pick and mix of all lovely varieties that I had no idea existed.

Lindt was one of the shops we'd planned to visit , but queues were so long at the time.

Just both agreed it'd be better returning sometime in the future when the novelty has worn off and not so manic.

Was looking forward to a quiet lazy day today, Mrs T going to Bicester to meet Gurly wedding dress shopping but she now doesn't want to drive because of the rain so I'm having a day in Bicester. Be nice to see Gurly though.

Yes, there's no more fun for me in shopping than going to the dentist, not that I'm one for fun.

Yes, there's something wrong with anywhere that changes the name of a railway station from Bicester Town to Bicester Village.

You probably already know but the station name was changed when the line was upgraded 5 or 6 years ago and named after the designer outlet shopping centre.

Chiltern railways earn a great deal of income from tourists and cockeneeeees travelling up from London and it was changed so that passengers went to the right station for shopping.
