We are in love with her already, she is a 4 month old carpathian sheepdog found abandoned at 3 weeks old in Romania. We’re on our way back from Bedford at the mo, she’s asleep on my daughters lap, I can throughly recommend the rescue charity we went through.

It’s not quite the weekend but what the hell.........

we’ve been looking for a pup on and off for years and after loosing our old boy a couple of months ago who left behind a gigantic hole we decided to open our hearts again to the beautiful Betty.

Ah! My middle sons dog Cici is also Romanian, also abandoned, stay on the streets till about 3 months, took her a while to learn she should sleep inside the house, but she's the softest, most beautiful temprement doggo ever. She's a very good girl.

I’m wondering where to start with trying to train, she has no concept of basic commands, in English or Romanian, she isn’t properly house trained, she doesn’t respond to her name, which is suppose is handy because we’re changing it.

Here is good for questions & advice...

Cici was the same when she first arrived, she would go outside and curl up by the fence to sleep, even if it was freezing cold & raining as she thought she had to be outside.

She's learned very quickly, fortunately my son works from home so was able to spend lots of time with her. There only problem now is the car, she vomits on even the smallest of journeys, they think she's scared she will be taken somewhere else & left as her only other journey was in the back of a van all the way from Romania.

Awwww she's lovely too. Well done to your son for giving her a good home too. The vet told us , when our new rescue kept being car sick, to take her on really short journeys to nice fun walks, even if only a minute up the road, and gradually increase it. It worked.

Hope you all had a good first night and not too stressful. Good luck with the training and house training. Got to be so strange for her in her new surroundings. Hopefully she will soon settle in and learning your basic commands. What are you changing her name to?

(Some Romanian dogs seem to be expert escape artists when arriving in their new homes , even scaling high fences so watch any possible escape routes ...)
