The Kominsky Method

Netflix says its a 97% match, I'm not so sure, it seems to be about acting, not killing, drugs, action & thrillers....

Michael Douglas is very good in it.

Not a watch if you're easily depressed though...

Any thoughts on the recent 'Catch-22' series? Might watch it when I finish the book, probably in a day or two.
The film is better, though the series is good.

I talked about it a lot, with contributions from others, earlier in this thread if you're interested. A search probably won't help much because the search function of this site is pure shite, but it might work if the pixies have scattered enough dust.

It's a while now, but from what i remember the problem is structural.

The film tries to incorporate the cyclical structure of the book's narrative, and largely succeeds; the series unpicks the narrative and tries to make it linear, which just doesn't work imo.

It looks great, and has its own worth, so i'd not caution against it, but tbf nothing is ever going to be as good as the Catch-22 in your own head.

Undoubtedly true, I had that problem with watching The Expanse after reading the books, everyone loves the series but what was in my head was much better.

Cheers! I'll have a dig and see if I can find it. Yeah I was wondering if it would take the more linear approach as I do think that would lose some of its spark tbh.

I nearly gave up on the book after an hour or two of reading because I was finding it so hard to get my head around, until I did a bit of googling and realised it's intentionally a bit impenetrable/confusing in places. But once I had an idea of what was actually going on, I've found it much easier to follow. Glad I stuck with it as it has been great and doesn't really feel its age at all (outdated references to women aside).

Although I am completely not into Marvel Comics superheroes, I watched a film on Sky last night called 'The New Mutants.' No saving the world or fighting hi-tech aliens or whatever, rather more sinister than that. I initially watched it because it featured Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen's Gambit) and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones.) I actually enjoyed it.
I had just dropped half a bottle of gin (with tonic) after a day running up and down a ladder fault finding on an aerial. I needed a bit of tension in my bones.

I haven't watched any tv at all for 8 nights, don't watch so much in the summer.

Tonight though I shall be recording Time on BBC 1. I watch anything that Jimmy McGovern has written and this has got a great cast, including Steven Graham, who I think is supremely talented.

Half a litre bottle or half a 35cl? That's the question....

Having watched 'Time' mentioned by @Carole ... I might have to binge watch it on IPlayer. :o

The first time I remember seeing Stephen Graham was a few years ago as he played Al Capone in the American TV series Boardwalk Empire. I thought he was a yank, honestly, his accent was that good. He played Capone with his usual menace ... was I ever surprised to find out he was a scouser.

Looking at his work on IMDB he's been around the block a few times, and clearly I'd seen him before Boardwalk Empire. But in that part he threw me off course in terms of recognition completely, playing the classic American gangster, and playing the part very convincingly.

I really wanted to watch 'Time' as my dad was a prison officer and I'm a fan of both Jimmy Mcgovern and Stephen Graham... The carers not a fan of either so it's on my day off list...
