Wearing shorts that look like you've just shit yourself !! ... Not going to happen. :P

Must admit I thought I would never wear them. When we moved offices a few years ago it went in my favour and I was able to cycle to work. I could barely walk after the first day of cycling (why do they make cycle seats so damn hard?). Anyway I got some shorts but I wear them under a pair of normal shorts. A colleague has the baggy/cargo type and you would never know they were not just normal shorts

I had family arrive today - 12 HOURS earlier than expected!

They decided it would be a nice surprise to arrive at 7am rather than 7pm!

I only found out when I woke at three in the morning and checked my phone to see a message reading 'We're on the way!'

So I got up at 3am and hoovered the house, mopped the floor, took the bins out, faffed about and finally collapsed at 5am - setting my alarm for 6.45 so I was up in time.

Alarm went off - checked my phone to see another text saying they had stopped for a kip and would be with me at 10am instead....

I was up by then and had work (I hadn't booked it off as they weren't arriving until 7pm!!)

They finally tipped up at 9.30am, quick hellos then I had to go back to work.

I managed to swindle the afternoon off but had to go shopping to buy food as the cupboard were empty and all I had was a sad tin of kidney beans!

Absolute disaster of a day - AMAZING to see then but please people - arriving 12 hours early is not a nice surprize!!

I can fully relate to that. Got something similar a couple of years back and went on a mad cleaning and tidying up binge. Family (two kids, two dogs and 200 suitcases) arrived and were amazed at the tidy state of my place. (A few hours before it bore a strong resemblance to Hiroshima the day after.)
"I like to keep things shipshape," I told them, trying not to look too exhausted (took me an hour to figure out how a mop worked.)

I'm guessing that you're not teaching anymore?

Oh my goodness @That-Crazy-Rat-Lady I feel your pain.
We’ve got friends coming tomorrow for the weekend, we met them on a cruise just before lockdown and kept in touch.
We’ve asked them to come any time after 4.00pm.

I’ve spent the week, menu planning, shopping, baking, cleaning and tomorrow will be more cooking preparation and last minute tidying up in the hope that I look quite relaxed when they turn up (although probably knackered).

I would be mortified if they turned up 12 hours early!!
