Well, it turns out that I'm not watching 'Vera' at 8pm, as the new series of 'Whitehouse & Mortimer, gone fishing' is on at the same time....

Catch up for Vera.

Been hearing a lot lately about an upcoming BBC murder thriller series called 'Vigil.' Apparently the murder takes place aboard a Vanguard class nuclear powered submarine and a lady detective is dropped onboard via helicopter to investigate.

Vanguard class subs are Trident submarines. (Think ... end of the world if they're called to action.)

From the same production company as Line of Duty and Bodyguard. Although I think all submariners are mad bastards, I've always been fascinated by these boats.

Sometime in the Autumn for broadcast, but there seems to be a lot of secrecy about it. I'll be there with my TV remote for sure ....

Just starting on BBC1 @BobClay

Sunday's Vera.
Started watching Vera on catch up on Sunday night, but a mixture of being forced (not really, it's great) to watch 'Mortimer & Whitehouse gone fishing', a big tea, and lots of gin, plus work related phonecalls (yes, on a Sunday night :grr:)... Meant that I have no idea what happened..... Back on my watch list for next week...

Scrap Kings S1, Ep2 showing the old railway maintenance depot in Brunswick Terrace being demolished.

This was my first work location when I started as a trainee and quite strange seeing it disappear.

Repeated on Quest at 13.00 today.

I've been binge watching an earlier series of 'Britannia' in order to catch up for the new series. I still haven't figured out if this is supposed to be a bit comical or a send up (albeit a bloody gory one.) Mackenzie Crook is just top notch as a Druid Priest, (in fact two Druid Priests, brothers who don't get on.) It's a really weird show, but sort of fascinating.
Did the makeup dept ever have a good time with Mackenzie .....

Had to watch 'Educating Rita' on the Beeb last night. Seen it a few times, but it's so good to watch Julie Walters and Michael Caine firing off each other. A classic.

Finally got round to watching the last episode of Professor T. Quite enjoyed it. As I said in an earlier post, I doubt ITV will make another series, it isn't what they normally turn out. Shame really.

Enjoying a drop of red.

The original version went to three series so I suppose there is a chance.

The North Water. BBC.

WOW this is dark !! Even on modern ships there are some dark times due to weather and location, but I'm crossing 19th Century whaling ships off my bucket list !!

Brilliant production though. I didn't recognise Colin Farrell, apparently he ate like a horse in order to get in shape for the part. Filmed in Svalbard, the closest I ever got to that place was going round the the North Cape to Kirkenes, Norway. On Svalbard you're within 800 miles of the North Pole,

The story is relentlessly grim, and I had to look up details about the slaughter but apparently no animal was hurt during the production. Stephen Graham as the Old Man on the whaler !! I think I'd be back down the gangplank straight off if I was joining her. And he's one of the 'nice' guys ... (Apart from the insurance scam it looks like he's going to pull off in collusion with the ship's owner.)

I think I'll open a bottle of Rum .... :gonk:

Have ended up binge watching 'The North Water.' I simply cannot knock the production and the cast (Colin Farrell is unforgettable as a truly horrible bastard.) No spoilers here ... the ending is neither happy nor unhappy. Not disappointing, more circular.
