I think there's one in John Connor's book published several years ago.
I could name a few of those standing outside the Prince Albert.

I don't recall any of the customers but I remember the Dog and Rabbit being of a size commensurate with "a cozy little pub", and bronchial problems meaning landlord Bernard didn't enjoy the best of health.I used to drink in the Dog and Rabbit on occasion with a guy called Fred Barratt. One of the original biker gang from the Prince of Wales back in the late 60's early 70's. He bought one of the first Honda 4's which was quite a bike at the time. Former Dormans, Cyril Chell worker before he moved out to the Middle East working.
No longer with us, which applies to quite a few of the Prince bikers ...
I remember it being quite a cozy little pub.
Sounds like you need a pint you old dogOK ... belay all that I've said above. I've clearly been getting my 'Dogs' mixed up. The one in South Walls was the 'Dog and Partridge.' That's the one I meant when I was talking about Fred.
My apologies to all for the confusion of a decaying brain. I shall cover it with a sack cloth and stand in the corner for six years.

I never understood that 'sun' and 'yard arm' nonsense and have fond memories of many a breakfast in Smithfield pubs. And the Sun has just crossed the Yard Arm ..... ...... TO THE PUB !!!
(Corner standing on hold.)
I remember Roy "Rastas" Bates of the Dog and Partridge proclaiming "Best Bass in Stafford" in about 1975 soon after he and Ray Till in the Coach and Horses got Draught Bass on. About the only other nearby pub with it was Brian Deakin's Unicorn.OK ... belay all that I've said above. I've clearly been getting my 'Dogs' mixed up. I'm not sure if we got much more sense from Rugeleyian Andy Carthy who had the Lamb twenty years ago.I remember him from Rugeley, bullsh*tt*ng tw*t.
I had an afternoon visit to the Izaac Walton Brewhouse ( 'Railway Inn' sign still missing ) at Norton Bridge nine days ago.Spent a pleasant afternoon in the Izaac Walton Brewhouse (old Railway Inn) at Norton Bridge yesterday.
A round of four pints was less than £12 and the Grayling and Rainbow Trout were very nice.
We then took a taxi to the Crown Wharf Joules pub before returning back to Stafford in the evening.
Good to see both pubs were really busy.
since 2004 one hasn't been able to get a train to or from Norton Bridge.

As a Rugeley chap originally, I know both characters mentioned. And yes, your opinion of both of them is exactly spot on!I'm not sure if we got much more sense from Rugeleyian Andy Carthy who had the Lamb twenty years ago.
I remember him not knowing if Wetherspoons pubs sold real ale.
Yes, with Staffordshire County Council electing not to take over the funding of the bus service it ceased in March 2019.And now the replacement bus service has gone, I believe. I am also informed that it is still the Railway Inn, the signs have been removed pending renovation and repainting of the exterior.
