Stafford Cinema - ups & downs.

But, dude, trading the luxuries of the new Odeon for the deprivations of the old one is worth what?

Seats are £5 dude, as cold and as tight as they might be.

There is some easy Math to be done here.
Some things are worth paying for. Being comfortable when watching a 2 to 3 hour film is one of them.

The "old" cinema is currently closed for urgent repairs...

So said the sign on the door as I walked past 20 mins ago....

After my normal cinema closed (Showcase at Walsall) and the extortionate prices at the LUX I was hoping this was going to reopen. Just have to wait for the few films worth seeing to come in TV.

FWIW if you have a mobile on O2 you can get 1 cinema ticket free per month to be used on Mondays via Priority Moments. I used mine at the Odeon but there was a premium of £2.5 to pay as it was on an iSense screen. I saw Dune and thought it was brilliant

I took the boy to see Sonic the Hedgehog there before the pandemic took hold, I would happily have been supporting it had it have been open I suspect, but with a general lack of free time and the window for Cinema release -> Streaming getting shorter all the time cinema is a nice to go to, not a desperate need.

Tickets at the Odeon were £12 or more before the pandemic. I recently paid £16 to watch No Time To Die on an iSense.

It may seem like a lot but it costs loads more for a theatre ticket or a football ticket or a live concert. Cinema is still relatively inexpensive compared to those.

I know it’s not if you have a family but nothing is now compared to yesteryear.

Stafford Rangers only charge adults £10; £7 for concessions and kids are free or £1.

Stafford Town and Brocton are cheaper.

I get 2x tickets a month generally with my vitality policy. Used to be Cineworld and vue but a year ago they moved off Cineworld to odeon

I was talking about Premier League or EFL football, not non-league.
