The carers working late (again) but he's made a nice veg chilli & left it in the slow cooker.... Minime an I are eating it now, it's quite nice for a first attempt at a veg chilli.... And as a bonus there's enough left for another day.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Bit of a celebration tonight as the in-laws arrived via a circuitous route from Hungary at our place in Formby yesterday, where they are staying 10 days or so until the delay on the house they're buying over here is sorted out.

We've not seen them in over two years thanks to COVID, so having a posh night out at Bistro Vérité in Southport to mark the occasion. The best bit is that my mother in law doesn't drink, so she gets to drive, woohoo!

Tonight was weird late shift night, so we all had something different as we were all eating at different times.... Minime opted for a ceaser salad, the carer had an odd combination of macceroni cheese and a pizza (?!) I had Tomato soup and bread n butter.

Stuffing the Christmas box of family circle biscuits now....

When it finishes cooking...... Smoked gammon joint, with creamy cheesy veg. (potatoes, parsnips, leeks and onions, smothered in cheese sause, extra cheese on top & baked in the oven).

Strawberry Eclairs for afters.

Yesterday we had braised steak and roast potatoes, with a few roasted carrots for me. I bunged it all in a casserole dish, smothered it with thick gravy and shoved in on a low heat to slowly reach perfection, took about 4 hours. It was, if I do say so myself, gorgeous. It just fell apart.
Tonight, we're having exactly the same meal. Youngest eats the lot, even the manky trim of fat on the edge 🤢
I start a month of nights from tomorrow, so we won't get many chances of having a meal together, he's on nights too.
Had this again tonight, with the same tomorrow. It was by request, and if he's going to eat everything, who am I to say no? It was bloody lovely.
Yet another steak night, he's getting too used to this here home cooking lark!
