Every time I go to the opticians I wonder who actually has eyes that need just "standard" lenses because every little thing seems to be an add-on.

I truly have terrible, so bad I get a free eye test bad, eyes and I always have just standard lenses, but I always go for frames that can take them and I always point out to the sales team I know what works for the glasses I'm going for.

I've always had great service at Specsavers, but having to pay for my own glasses makes me keenly aware of what I'm willing to spend. Equally I have to wear them every day so I get a decent cost per use out of them.

soooo...the wife drove our daughter to school today and told me on return that there was a warning about tyre pressures on the dash.
I went out with the cigarette lighter powered inflator and set to work. Found one of the tyres very low on air. Turned on the compressor....once disconnected i could still hear air coming out from near the value. Oddly when i moved the valve laterally with my finger the leaking air stopped.

So i headed up to Mr Tyre where i usually get tyre related things sorted. Spoke to the chap on the desk and explained the predicament. "its a sensor problem, we don't stock them....get it from ford and we'll fit it"...end of...no ifs or but's even though I explained the thing with the valve.

Got in the car and went to ATS around the corner....Same thing....wouldn't even get off their arses to look at the car.

With air leaking at a vast rate i went to FMS, our usual haunt for general car issues. Spoke to Sam on the desk.

"oh i've had similar issues with my car which is a ford...its not the sensor its the valve", he said reaching over the desk for a bag of valves in a ford bag. "Leave it with us for 2-3 hours and we'll get it sorted...."

You know what ? It was the valve. All done by lunchtime, and only £18.

CUFFY for My Tyre - (They've lost a long time customer for good)
CUFFY for ATS for a similar shoddy attitude
SKILLS for FMS....

Boots Opticians ……..
Have a complicated prescription and will always look to buy the best if I can afford it at the time ?
Been 3 years since the last Asda pair but was not that pleased with them so gave Boots a try (Specsavers type are not an option for me IMO)
Good eye test with a switched on tester ( had more tests than I care to remember) on good equipment so no issue there, selected the varifocal lenses by Zeiss and good quality frames (as important IMO)
For some reason they simply never worked as expected (?) had to go back a number of times but the shop director asked if he could double check everything including the test that he then carried out again (all good)
He was puzzled, as was I, so he said go back onto the shop floor and simply choose what frames & lenses you prefer and we will see how they pan out (my words) selected another designer brand of frames and a set of Essilor lenses a type that have proven to be the best for me in the past (even though they are French) and yes they were perfect.
So Boots in Stafford is an optician that I will deal with again.

Now a few of those Happy to Help people of a weekday at the ASDA checkouts who are clearly not Happy to Help !
Notice I say weekday.

Yes I will nowadays try to avoid buying anything French as Macaroni has been trying for a good few years now to punish the UK, but that is for another thread.

Skills to both Roots and Tranquility who not only offer lovely independant shops that match my belief system, they also offer a wide range of recycling. I'm now converted to paying that little bit more for products from independent shops where the focus is on quality, service and ethical awareness rather than run of the mill chain stores so spend quite a lot in these 2 wonderful little places!

A massive skill for the castle knight and his trusty armouror for hosting an amazing party for my son's 7th birthday at the castle. Everyone (grown ups included) had the best time despite the weather.

Thank you so much!!

Cuffy to Cex...

Not for the service I received but for the chap next to me who was after a way to connect a speaker to his sons Xbox and was told he needed an elliptical cable to connect from the Xbox to a sound bar or similar speaker system - it's actually an optical cable... 🤦‍♂️

I worked with a bloke who did that all the time - we never knew if it was deliberate or not.

His car had declining seats, held in place by Mexican-headed bolts - etc...

Skills to Simon at Central Gas.
Discovered first thing that the downstairs toilet cistern wasn't stopping when filled. I couldn't isolate the water due to a poor position of the isolator (damn you Persimmon 13 years on!!) and couldn't take the unit apart due to limescale. Called him and he came around after the job he was on, managed to get the water isolated, then came back later in the day to fit a new valve.
Top bloke!

Not Stafford related but a heads up for anyone buying garden furniture ready for this summer.
Bought a Kettler gazebo (quality item, well pleased) last year. Had an issue with a broken rail over the winter, self inflicted I have to say.
Rang Kettler's office in Redditch this morning, spare part ordered £10 no fuss, no bother just excellent customer service.

Serious cuffy- Fletcher’s garden centre, after saying the error was their fault, went on to post clear picture of two customers on their Facebook page who’s transaction hadn’t cleared as if it was a police post appealing for witnesses. I fear it did more harm than the the value of the transaction that didn’t clear - judging by the comments, I can’t believe that a business would be that out of touch they would think it’s acceptable.

I saw reposts of that (it seems to be gone now) and I did think there could be some misunderstandings as a result.

They might perhaps, have asked if anybody knew who might have purchased the particular item (there won't have been a huge run on those) and gained contact in a less 'difficult' manner.

Sorry, no idea, what this post is about? 🤔🙃 Were they accused of stealing?

Nothing is ever deleted. This was the post, I’ve blanked out the faces because I don’t think it’s fair to the people featured.

May as well have been, it reads like the staff hadn’t put the payment through properly/ the card machine crashed and Fletcher’s though the best way to deal with it is to post clear pictures of their customers on social media. I would have been fuming if that was me.

Don't see the problem really. I don't get any inference of guilt or accusation from that post.
