Isn't that the Macro cafe that's moving with the gym?
Tbh , that might actually do better for them there than the Guildhall.

Doesn't look like the gym's taking on the old Bright House bit though, just everything around it.

Anyone remember what it was before Bright House ? I remember New Look was next door, but just can't remember if there was something there before Bright House.

It was MKOne, or Mark One, ladies clothes

Oh, 'I'd forgotten about Gamestation
I was surprised that Bright House didn't pre-date Street View, I only looked on the off-chance.

My (only) favourite thing about Bright House was the pigeon who used to nip in and have them chasing him round the shop for an hour at a time.

I did once overhear a comment from one window-shopper to another - "Ooh, I do like that settee, apart from the shape and the colour."

I nearly asked for an explanation, but, just in time, I realised that I wouldn't understand it.

Well as you were standing there for an hour watching the pigeon it may have helped pass the time ? :raise:

I did watch it for quite a while - and it was still going on when I came back for my bike about an hour later.

I suspect they weren't playing best-of-three.

Game has since been bought out anyway, it's now owned by Mike Ashley / the Sports Direct group.

In time it'll probably go and be absorbed into their department stores or a corner in Sports Direct.

In a previous life* I was slightly involved in trying to get an esport arena situated in the sports direct in Hanley via Belong arenas and Sports direct

I was also on the fringes of discussions for an esports arena in Stafford, but my guess is that's dead in the water these days.

* this time last year, but that seems like such a long time ago.

An eSports arena in Stoke is on the table still, I believe. Focus is on that new gaming centre right now though, and of course it’s city council stuff so takes a decade to get going anyway.

Where would an eSports arena in Stafford go though…?

Gotta say Sports Direct do not strike me as the sort to actually do that justice, but at least they were involving external parties rather than fumbling over it themselves

At a guess, they might have been looking into getting one of the vacant units either side of sports direct. Or making use of the upstairs office / storage areas, I'm sure it's quite substantial. Failing that, if the idea fell through, they've probably allocated the space to something else.

Never knew that. No surprise Game looks like it needs an overhaul if Ashley owns them. He buys things and leaves them to age badly without any investment.

Proactive,
They did but before my time.
An old friend told me of a week touring Kent by bicycle in the 1950s, his bike left in the centre of Canterbury for most of a day and untouched when he returned.
I always chained my bike up and left nothing of value on it.
