Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

How many eateries on that site have previously gone bust?

Not sure, but the oatcakes place has probably been a victim of all shops being closed during lockdown.

Anyway, I wish them well as a customer of theirs. I expect they can make a decent income from the stuff for birthdays, corporate customers. Bigger kitchen means more volume. But I can't help thinking a small industrial unit would have made more sense the way the high street is right now.

I remember when it was a DVD rental place , then a law firm , the oakcakes place I always thought was quite mixed, it was doing well till it scored a one on its food rating , that and the backlash pretty much killed it overnight. The lockdown was the final nail in the coffin.

Although it did leave then returned under new ownership as a much smaller delivery operation, before vanishing altogether.

A one is still a pass. But true, not the best sign of a well organised business. During lockdown I did order a breakfast and milkshake from there and it was fine.

There was a cafe there as well. Theo's Café or something like that. Maybe, possibly?

Yes, a low rating is as likely to be from "Structure" or "Confidence in Management" as from "Hygiene and Safety".
Large chains might be known for rodent infestations but routinely get ratings of 5 because they have a 'box ticking' process in place. Those small businesses offering Asian food and less familiar with our language risk getting lower ratings.
If during an inspection the officer found that a business’s hygiene standards were extremely poor with an imminent risk to public health then they could close the premises down completely until it is safe to reopen but that very rarely happens. .

According to a friend who is a hygiene inspector in a borough far, far way, that's pretty much it.

A bit like OFSTED, I remember Stafford College getting some really good scores but then because upper management were shite they took that score as a ceiling for the college. Our results were irrelevant, we were marked based purely on the psycho principal.

New business opening up.

They supplied Brown’s Coffee Co while it was open - no relation though I assume?

Oh, were you in attendance during the stint prior to the merge to become NCSG then? With the principal that was asked very nicely to hand in her notice?

I was working there, and I can't believe she got off so lightly. Her deputy took most of the brunt on that one.

The art of successful management is being able to delegate who carries the can.
I almost felt sorry for her deputy TBH, she was shafted from multiple sides, but she chose her alignment and stuck with it so in the end it was on her. Was annoyed the principal got away with it though, we had lots on her but few willing to speak out til after she was gone.

That was Maggie "oh you mustn't stop the poor businessman making money, you can't close them down, you have to educate them to do the right thing". Edict to many government & local authority departments. Ok, not quite in those words but that was the meaning.

Looks like they are intending to rent and not sell the vauxhall garage site. A few vehicles outside and saw some lights on in the workshop.
