Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

wanna see my snake?
I still am deaf for days after flying , being in agony on landing each flight.
I had this all my life, doc had no idea what it was. I decided to try syringing my own ears not long before my first flight in years and a big blob of black wax came out of the ear that always hurt and I've never had issues since, yet my doc looked in that ear when I was asking for help many years before? Was 5 years ago and it's never returned, and I've flown more int hat 5 years than the 40 previous!

EDIT: Used something like this, with 2 weeks of olive oil to soften it first:

Has anybody covered the loud bangs from beyond Blackheath Lane?
Been to 2 funerals this year and was at the Crem at the weekend. At the funerals the noise was noticeable. At the weekend, myself and my brother raised our eyebrows at the volume and regularity.
Bird scarers was the obvious answer but these bangs sounded more like a canon than a shot gun and the regularity at one point seemed to be about half dozen in less than 2 minutes.

There are a number of bird scarers in the fields around the road to Baswich sewerage works off the Tixall road.

And yes they are incredibly louder than they need to be.

I wonder if the birds might actually eat more, if they're being persuaded to fly off every few minutes, rather than just stuffing themselves in peace and going back to the nest to sleep it off?

At Riga airport they play bird of prey noises to make the pigeons keep a low profile.
Some airports employ actual birds.

This one works for the Air Corps in Ireland and will create a fairly effective no-fly zone very rapidly.

Many farmers actively encourage birds of prey to grow in the wild on their land to deal with pidgeons etc in a more natural way.

As well as earwax it could be a catarrh problem, could try things like beconase, cetirizine ... or antihistamines for a week before your flight.
I had a middle ear op when I was 7 which may have a lot to do with it.Tried antihistamines etc , as well as syringing beforehand when flying but still no joy.

Had lots of probs with fluid in middle ear last year , which nurse practitioner said to try antihistamines as well.

Strangely the longer more gradually plane descents are the most painful.Ones where they have come down steeper haven't been so bad.

( And the emergency landing a couple of holidays ago I never noticed my ears....after being told to leg it without belongings once we touched ground, I was more concerned about getting our house & car keys in my hand along with passports. The journey back down the M6 from Manchester to where the car was parked at Birmingham was more scary than the landing! The taxi driver , who had been celebrating Eid before the call for drivers to take 200+ passengers to Brum, had clearly had a few bevys! 100mph+ in the 50 roadworks areas , One handed whilst ringing his mates to inform a good job going between airports, and as he had never been that far south before, bombing it down the fast lane he didn't realise he was on the Toll until he luckily had a card on him to pay when suddenly finding himself at the pay booths:lol:. )

Stressed, stressed and more stressed! After the buyers solicitors instructing me yesterday to have the gas fire serviced again  , despite me only having Baxi & fire serviced late October, and me sending reply back that they can do one.... (Ringing our solicitor this morning he said not a legal requirement anyway as not a rental property) . And despite them having all the planning permissions/approval paperwork for garage & porch which which were added in 1974 before we even bought the house, they now want proof permission was given at the time to block the original side door which was part of the same work , and change it to the porch door.....WTF!!! They have all they paperwork Pickering & Butters handed us on our purchase of the house back in 1981 including all the planning permissions and inspection approval letters after the works . My copies which I took of it are so faint as it was all typed on a type-writer those pre-computer days. But I've scanned what I copied anyway and sent yet again.

I thought the actual moving day was supposed to be the stressful part !

Now Cadent have just informed me they will be (compulsary )digging a whacking great big hole in the garage and driveway tomorrow, and moving the meter from inside under the stairs to the inside garage wall on Thursday. Had to inform our solicitor of the works, as the location of meter on the official paperwork will be changed. I forecast more hassle from the buyers solicitors about that ! 😭

Why do they need to move your meter? If it's still inside your property whats the point?

Christ knows! They have been working their way across the estate , making a right mess inside and out peoples properties apparently. Loads have got them moved to the front of the houses , but he says ours wouldn't be practical to do that.

BUT... I was told by the customer services bloke who came yesterday that the original workforce had to stop the job, so this is a new team. And normally get a lot more notice, but work was resumed a couple of days ago to rush it in before the financial year end.

I was hoping , when the original team on the estate had suddenly packed up and gone the other week , that it would drag out until well after we had moved.

Hoping we still have a house at the end of it , and the street hasn't gone up with a bang. Just seen one of the gas workers digging a hole with a lit cigarette in his mouth.
