So this is a thing that people keep trying to make more of a thing than it is -

What is Staffordshire Day?

Staffordshire Day is the day we celebrate everything we love about Staffordshire.

Every year on May 1st, Staffordshire comes alive with events of all shapes and sizes across the county, and loads of competitions and special offers from our great attractions, restaurants, pubs, and hotels.

Whether you love our captivating countryside, our thrilling theme parks or our eye-opening history and heritage, there will be something for you on Staffordshire Day!

It is a very special day for us. May 1st is the anniversary of our most famous son, Josiah Wedgwood, setting up his pottery company in 1759 and helping to transform Staffordshire into the centre of the world’s ceramics industry.

Now that is something worth shouting about!

So... Happy Staffordshire Day, i guess?

^Some poor sap had to write that with a straight pen.

You mean you weren't all busy on Staffordshire Day eve hiding china around the house for the traditional Willow Patten place setting hunt for the kids as soon as they wake up? You've got to keep them entertained before the Oatcake tossing race and gathering around the Staffordshire Day bottle kiln decorated with Minton tiles for the swapping of the traditional gifts of Factory seconds Emma Bridgewater mugs and Alton towers 2 4 1 vouchers.

You forgot the age old tradition of flagstone balancing in the Market Square followed by a visit to SDG or whatever it's called now to X Ray your broken ankle.
