... that a pile of twigs that I pruned off some bushes about a week ago, and left to be shredded at some point, has been interfered with.

I presume that it is the crows who are the culprits.

They have removed some of the nicer(?) twigs - but, they have replaced them with inferior ones, from plants which do not grow in this garden.

Maybe they were just going past and spotted a better twig, leaving their old one there - or, maybe they think I won't notice, if the pile stays the same size?

... a real Lucozade bottle.

I stopped to have my lunch at an isolated level crossing, and spotted it in the pile of debris left over from from some recent renovations and repairs that had been carried out.

I think I still have one of the black, screw-in stoppers with the red seal somewhere.

But where's that orange crinkly film it was always wrapped in?!
I suspect it was buried there about fifty years ago. It's probably lucky it didn't get broken during the excavations.

The bottles with the black stoppers seem to have gone in the mid- to late-60s, as far as I can see, when the metal screw caps arrived.

Those little cottages on the left would have been fantastic, but the extractor fan from Navarna must make them smelly.

Although that seems very familiar, I cannot for the life of me place it !! I remember the bit of the old wall at the eastern end of North Walls. Could you tell me exactly where that is ... ? :) (Haven't lived in Stafford since 1989 and last visit was 2018, but still Stafford born, Stafford bred, strong in the arm, weak in the head. :P)

It's the alleyway running down towards the old library from Friars' Walk - Spaggo's was on the right.

Right ... got it. (Despite mysterious references to whatever Spaggo's is. :P) Good view of it on Google Earth Street View. I used that walk a few times when I was at the Grammar school, where they transferred me after Kingston due no Sixth Form available. I stuck the Grammar Quack zone for three months before I rode off into the sunset.

It was an Italian restaurant - I thought it might have there there way back in your day...

That tool shop was a gem.

I had loads of great stuff from there.

My ' uncle' Joey Ellis, owned the pet shop by the Odeon ( and the sports shop over the road on Lichfield Rd)

Years later my mate , who was in uni digs, lived in a flat above those premises which then became an Indian restaurant?

Today I went to the local storage for the archive collection. And saw something that shocked me. The pub sign from my dad's pub I remember it being in the cellar the pub.... Happy that it survived
Is that The Hop Pole on Sandon Rd? Used to go in there early-mid 70's

Has the Hop Pole closed then ? Last time I was in Stafford in 2018 Christine Ball (she used to keep the New Victoria) took me on a bit of a pub crawl and we ended up at the Hop Pole, which I hadn't been in probably since the 60's. It was a good night. :)
