Wait until there's twenty four of them and make a pie.Blackbirds are hammering the raspberries, they're not fully ripe yet.
"Four and twenty blackbirds Baked in a pie" reminds me that many years ago a neighbour might give the time as "five and twenty past" whatever hour but that parlance might have completely died out by now.Wait until there's twenty four of them and make a pie.
might have completely died out by now.
Is that twenty seven..?five & twenty two
Is that twenty seven..?
Still converting to..." 23 o'clock, so that's 11pm ' here..What is wrong with people ? 24 hour clock. No a am/pm ambiguity. 5 am ... 0500 hours. 5 pm ... 1700 hours.
SHAPE UP !!
Otherwise, it's out back, brick wall .... powder puffs at short range, or even worse ... a season ticket to Disneyland.

Yes, the nights are drawing in now.Today is the Summer Solstice. You're all probably scratching your heads trying to figure what the time is because there's two of everything on silly 12 hour clocks, but you should know what the Summer Solstice is.
If not ...... .... we're going to need a bigger back yard, a bigger brick wall ... and a whole pile of bigger powder puffs.
I'll give you a clue .......
WINTER IS COMING.
Wrong. In fact sunset which is at 21:37 today (in Stafford), remains the same time until 30th June.Yes, the nights are drawing in now.
With it being the same till 30th June I thought only a pedant would argue with me, and I did wait until after noon before commenting.Wrong. In fact sunset which is at 21:37 today (in Stafford), remains the same time until 30th June.
I ain't got a clue what the summer solstice is. Hubby won't tell me as he says he doesn't believe I don't know . He's just told me to" ask the druids" ...Today is the Summer Solstice. You're right @staffordjasI ain't got a clue what the summer solstice is. Hubby won't tell me as he says he doesn't believe I don't know . He's just told me to" ask the druids" ...
I've always thought it was something to do with witches. As long as it doesn't affect my cider drinking ..... as you can probably have guessed, this 'Inches cider' is going down well!
That's Castletown for you.You're right @staffordjas
It not only involves much drinking of cider, you are meant to venture out at Midnight on the Summer Solstice whilst wearing a wreath of Ivy round your head, all the while chanting to the Moon God. Dancing round a large Oak tree, It is meant to bring on a good harvest for the coming months.
It can also be used as a fertility dance, this is an evening ritual, it involves sacrificing a soul to the man of fire, while paying homage to the Gods of your ancestors. You have to copulate openly in the fields, teach others of the phallic association of the Maypole, and place toads in the mouths of the ill to cure sore throats.
All the while denying the very existence of the human sacrifice. It culminates in the head of the ''man of fire'' collapsing in flames, revealing the setting sun.
