Just took the recycling over the road to the new machine, its pretty cool. It's very recently implemented, they only put the sign on this machine yesterday, but now in Latvia all recyclable drinks containers have a 10c charge at the till. The larger shops (this one is about the size of wilko) have a container sized machine in the car park that deals with them. You put the can/bottle in and the machine takes it, scans the barcode and directs it to the correct container where it is squashed or shredded depending on its material.

You get back a voucher to use at whichever shop you are at, so as I used a maxima machine I got 2.90 to spend there. I'm not sure how the machines themselves are funded but I guess keeping customers captive has benefits to the shop. An interesting side effect is the local alcoholics now walk the streets looking for cans and bottles a bit like wombles.

Spent the afternoon pottering about on the CBX 1000 in the lovely weather as I won't get another chance until September. It reminded me that it would make an excellent winter bike due to the amount of heat soak off the engine...

Tomorrow I head off for Goodwood with the dogs until Monday morning on a mix of work and fun, Mrs p and jr join me on Thursday evening after his final exam. Then on Monday jr, the dogs and I head off down to near Aix until the beginning of September. I'm very fortunate in being able to work from 'home' very easily as long as there's reasonable internet connection, although I will be dashing back up the autoroute a couple of times to attend shows. Sadly the current wife isn't so lucky, so she can't join us for another month or so.

Apart from the Chase, I can't say I'm expecting to miss Stafford much...

Back in the last century, for a short period, there was a bloke with a van, who parked at Sainsbury's and would pay for aluminium cans by weight. I got, I think, 25p for all the ones that people had flung in my front garden. It made me feel (very slightly) better about it.

I'm alive!

Exam season is upon us so I've had my head buried in practice essays and mock papers!
Are you allowed to call them "mocks" now?

Spent the afternoon knitting fog as it was a day. Eldest leg bag had the morning off so we're off to Holywood, south Birmingham, to collect some buckets of steam. Unfortunately the big pants can't make it this week because they're full of caked on crap and I've run out of Omo.

Apart from the Chase , television is really good. If you can afford lots of great drugs to watch it with

Cauliflower cheese sticks to the hairs on your thighs

Unless you're really good at bowling

I have a pet cassette player but it's currently in kennels

I have a full time job with the mentioned woodland malarkey but back in October my old school rang me and asked me to take on Yr13 A Level as the bloke who took my job was fired!

So I've been working a 57 hour week (plus private tutoring in the evening!)

Plus some charity work...

So yeahhhhh - been busy!!

An old friend of mine had a CBX from new, ( a T plate if I remember correctly) kept it really tidy. Thought he'd keep it forever until it became a museum piece. Was very surprised to hear he'd sold it about 4 or 5 years ago.

Well! We ended up at Bowness, nice place.
Using the loo in town cost 50p for a wee, and they only took contactless!! Bleedin' daylight robbery.

Then we decided go to Morcambe, where we had yet another Ice Cream, bit cheaper this time, just over a Fiver for the 2, I paid for them ;) and having a wee was free in the shopping centre.

Having a wee in any of the loos still actually open ( most boarded up) in Paignton & Torquay costs 30p as well now! And crafty sods using coin/ contactless pay barriers in entrance to the buildings to stop the old practice of holding the door open for next person.

Hoopers department store benefited from us using their free loos though . Went there instead & whilst browsing ( to make it not so obvious we'd only gone in for a wee) actually spotted the perfect card holder I'd been looking to buy for ages.

Can't work out how it's not actually costing these councils to do the numerous contact less 'wee' transactions. If the shops aren't taking cards around here for under 2 quid " because it costs us" , surely council have to pay the visa charges as well?

Nephew and I went up to Windemere other week, the loos were contacless, and it cost 50p to have a wee!! Lady behind me said they'd better be like Buckingham Palace to justify the cost. Sadly they weren't, reminiscint of the ones up by the common from years ago. And guess who doesn't have a contacless card? Me! Had use the nephews.
The ones at Morecambe were only 30p and way cleaner.

Long ago I realised that that pubs are ideal when a lavatory is needed and the chance of a rest with a nice pint is a bonus.
From my 2004 and 2012 weekends in Torquay though I found the Hole in the Wall to be about the only really good pub.

Back from London. Trains were fine (in terms of occupancy) though I was lucky, the two directly after the one I got there were cancelled.

Mentioned I was near the barrier on Monday for NIN and absolutely loved it, so frenetic and emotional. Got on the barrier again on Tuesday but I was so fecking EXHAUSTED that I knew I'd be in trouble so I had to move back. I now am officially too old to get down front for gigs 2 nights in a row! XD

They played 7 songs I'd never heard live before, including a cover of my favourite Bowie track, which isn't bad going for the 11th time I've seen them.
