Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

A source has told me both Game and sports direct are closing.

Game is moving into sports direct in the month , and sports direct is closing towards the end of the year for relocation into the Stafford Fraser's Department store, which is taking over the old co-op.

Make of it what you will, but seems semi likely.

It's feasible. Same parent company. Assuming that once Sports Direct move, Game move with them.

CEX celebrating.

I can’t remember the last time I actually did business with Game. Whenever they have a preorder exclusive they always massive to mess it up somehow

Just spoke to the guys in game and yes they are moving into sports direct by the end of the month.
They have heard that sports direct will move to Riverside (maybe the lambretta store) by the end of the year.

They have also heard that co-op are trying to buy the old building back.

Customer service won't help when they're apparently heading for bankruptcy.
Shame. Seems a weird one for MA to buy, he's the reverse king midas, it's good name will be worthless within months and then what will he have bought? Brand names I get, he basically counterfits his own brands, but AO sell other peoples gear.

Really? I had an interview with them a couple of weeks ago. There was talk of them pulling out of their European markets but I never thought they might be having issues.
They've lost their main credit facility now, so they have to pay for the goods upfront from their suppliers I believe , as such they've lost about half their value in the last week and still falling.

Looks like they've already closed the German business. Not sure when , they said in June they were going to do a slow staged closedown, looks like that's went out the window. AO.de

I'd definitely be using a credit card for AO purchases atm.

It is a bit of a strange move, the old Woolworth's site seems marginally larger and the rents probably a bit cheaper, can only assume he's concerned it looks a bit run down now, and a bit like a jumble sale inside which I doubt is the look he's going for today.

Guess the new store , like most others will have key things on show to take away and a bigger emphasis on click and collect.

Although maybe he's took a few spare units on over there, as he's just opened Evans Cycles there too.
