What are we watching on TV?

I remember watching that, especially the theme song music from Lisa Gerrard. And I think one of the most shocking endings in the business.

Ahh right !! Haven't seen the TV series. I might take a look. The film was quite good, but the ending was really shocking. Confronted with the horrors within the Mist a man decides to commit suicide after first killing his entire family to spare them the forthcoming nightmare scenario..
But his plan goes off the rails .....

Note: This is a SPOILER for the film.

Always good to put the spoiler warning after the spoiler....... XD

Stephen King series/films are either really good, or horrific..... This is pretty good, I dont think I've seen the film, x although I'm a massive stephen King fan

1, Could they not be both good and horrific?

2, Don't be too hard on yourself, you're not actually massive.

Well I figured the video itself was the spoiler. The description itself doesn't tell you what's coming. I've read a lot of Stephen King but I haven't read this book. As I understand it this ending was darker than the novel, but was done with Stephen King's approval.

I get you, but revealing the fate of the family you spend the entire movie with is a big spoiler in itself if you haven't seen it yet

OK I've found the TV series on Netflix. It started a bit in the 'small town USA' cliché mode but I've got to episode 3 and it's dug in quite well. 10 episodes, but that's not so bad ... one hour episodes are actually only 40 minutes once you yank the adverts out, which fortunately Netflix have done.
Today is a good day for a binge, it's fully overcast with light rain, and a bit misty ....:o:eek:.

How is the series version of The Mist? It wasn't too well received at the time so I avoided it, but I have been curious.
I find Stephen King films /series either amazing or frankly rubbish..... This isn't amazing but pretty good, enough to keep watching. I like it.

No direct spoilers. But the whole series just piddled out from midpoint onwards, and the last two episodes were just plain daft. I think the writers were smoking mushroom-meth.

Since I now consider the film version to be vastly superior ... I'm sort of left with one final choice. Read Mr King's book, and see what he actually had in mind.

It's a short story (albeit a longer one) rather than a full book so both adaptations are somewhat expanded versions. It's one of his best short stories for sure and the collection it appears in (Skeleton Crew) is also one of his best short story collections so I'd recommend reading the whole thing if you're going to at all.
