Coronavirus.

OK guys I need some advice. I've just received completely out of the blue a box of COVID virus test sets. Now I saw somewhere that SCAM test sets were being sent out (for whatever purpose I don't know) so I'm just a bit suspicious, made more so by the guarantee certificate all printed in a far eastern language, which you can see in the pix.
Is this legit ? is what I'm asking. It looks pretty legit, but I figure some of you guys who test themselves over and over might be able to give some advice.
(If you think this is a daft question fair enough ... but remember I'm on Chemo and therefore a teensy weensy bit paranoid, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)
BEHOLD !!

Minime fell for the covid scam, it sent her a text telling her she had contacted it & to fill out postage details & bank details as she would be charged 99p for delivery of a special testing kit.

Fortunately she told me in time for us to contact the bank & they informed us it is a scam, they put a hold on all her banking so they couldn't take any money out. Thank heavens for online banking.

You are probably in the same position as me and are listed on your NHS records as immunosuppressed. I have also received a free pack of tests this week. The difference is I was told, by email (from the NHS), that I would be getting them.

The email also told me I could order further test packs for free and that if I test positive I will be contacted to arrange an emergency supply of the appropriate treatment (mostly antivirals).
I also had one, but last year after being in hospital with a chest infection & kidney failure.

OK guys you've been a help. I've decided to keep the tests. One deciding factor was @Mudgie and @proactive posts. The address you see on the package is actually slightly in error. 20 years ago I changed it to that because of delivery problems I was getting (not the Post Office of course) and a couple of months later I got a slightly impolite letter from the Post Office, roughly saying: 'We decide addresses, change it back or DIE.'

So I did. I'm quite prepared to f*** with the Cosa Nostra and the Russian Mafia and Columbian drug cartels ... but NOT the POST OFFICE. :P

However I found out recently the NHS still have that old address, which leads me into all sorts of explanations when they ask me my address (now back to the proper one.) So unless the COVID scammers have a 20 year old address that well predates COVID I figure it's genuine. So I'll try a test in a day or two and if it turns out I'm putting a stick of dynamite up my conk ... (in which case you might hear the bang and the splatter of brain matter on the ceiling) I'll run with it.

They look genuine to me. That little “certificate” is just like the ones I used to get. They’ve probably sent them due to your chemo. The instructions usually ask you to report the results but that’s only for their statistics. I’ve never bothered. I’d keep them & maybe use them on your visitors etc for your protection.
The covid scams are mostly as @littleme described where they’re after your personal/financial info.

Yup, I received the tests after being told I had long covid (never tested posative for covid though)... And after chest infection, kidney failure & new severe asthma diagnosis that meant I should have shielded all the time I worked... Horse has bolted by then though.

Minimes scam involved scaring the shit out of her (she thought I might have got it & she passed it to me without knowing, after how ill I was last year), then asking for bank details for postage fees.... She's 16, she panicked thinking she had infected everyone and so of course filled in all the info.

For me, im still shocked by it as I would have thought out of the whole family, she is the most intenet/scam knowlagable of the whole family.... It took myself and a load of my 50+ coworkers 2 minutes to investigate & find it was a scam.... Go Generation X

Maybe check your spam folder, BobClay, see if you've also had an email about them? Or check your trash in case you're a dozy pollock who occasionally deletes things like me?
Yeah I checked my Spam folder, nothing there, but I do delete that daily. I might have done that inadvertently. Trouble is when I start examining the Spam emails I start singing the Monty Python Spam Song ..... ♫:sing: SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM .. SPAAAAM LUVVERLY SPAM ... :sing:

So I start to lose track of what I'm doing. :heyhey:

No point viewing this video if you have bought into the agenda (that is the clique members on this site)
For others who have a more open view (odds on they will be the lurkers) like a few posters you may find this of interest from someone at the coal face & with the qualifications to be there (unlike the clique members)

Not a pandemic and not an international health emergency? ... Tell that to my family & colleagues that have been hospitalised with it, and those that have lost people.

I was so annoyed with my new hairdresser , when someone rang to cancel because they had covid. He was going off on one cussing them for cancelling " It's only bloody flu !"

We've lost hubby's cousin to covid in the early days when it first started, our neighbour lost his mum at the start as well, and my friend was hopitalised and still not properly recovered ages after coming out of hospital !

Thankfully I caught it after I'd had 2 Pfizers , and although not bad enough to be hospitalised, it really knocked me about for a fortnight.

Been feeling rough this past fortnight , and still feeling rough, but daily lat flow tests still saying negative, so looks like I've caught another nasty bug going around here :(
(Hoping it's a bug and nothing else serious....couldn't get to even see or talk to a Gp or nurse...receptionist got me to go back outside and spend an hour on the phone waiting to speak to her , then got me to self diagnose over the phone and just said she'd send me some antibiotics to the local pharmacy. They don't seem to be working... Unfortunately going to take a couple of weeks for our transfer to another new GP practice to be completed. )

I often wonder if I would say anything in that scenario. I think I probably would. Especially as I've had the current strain and it was far worse than any flu I've ever had.

No change on here then!
You're still a dirty no-gooder if you don't mask up, get jabbed to help others even though it only helps you, then get looked at sideways for not being part of the in-crowd!

As you were....!
