Holidays 2022.

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
Just about to enter my third week of temperatures well above 30C, with the forecast saying it will continue like that for at least another 10 days with the possibility of near 40 degrees by then. Starting to get used to it now and being able to function at a near normal level.

We popped down to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer yesterday for a breath of sea air and the beaches were still crammed with sunbathers who were obviously intent on staying their all day. Madness. Called in at a rather pleasant vineyard on the way back to buy a couple of cases of their good stuff, although in this heat my alcohol consumption has plummeted. Our consumption of Vals and Evian, however, has shot through the roof.

It what came as a shock to myself we appear to have found a travel insurance company who might provide cover for the wife even given her recent op. So we might get a weeks foreign holiday at the end of August!!
#fingerscrossed
Alas for a multitude of reasons the foreign holiday will not be happening this year....
*Goes back to scanning Hoseasons*

My holiday this year will be a two day jolly with the Radio Officers Association at the end of September. (The timing between chemo's has worked out perfectly.) In a plush Bristol Hotel (so not far for me) with a trip to the Great Eastern Ship thrown in which I've never seen.
Basically a lot of drinking and eating and wandering about and reminiscing about the sea. Boring as f*** for most I suspect.
But it'll do. :heyhey:

People use Hoseasons? I'm quite surprised! Kinda thought they were a bit 20th century like Pontins!
I don't understand... Hoseasons are just an agent for booking accommodation, Pontins were an operator in their own right.
Have you seen where you can book on Hoseasons?

I haven't. They just give me a mental image that isn't appealing even if it is inaccurate. A perception issue perhaps? I'm an independent accommodation booker myself so would never look at Haven, Hoseasons or similar but sounds like it's a reflection on me rather than them. I'm glad you are enjoying the Haven site @littleme

To be fair, we just stay in the caravan there, occasionally use the 'restaurant', or pool, but don't take part in the activity.

Happily we always get a van that's only 5 mins walk to the beach, and if you don't go nearer to New Quay (look how packed the beach in front of the town is!), then you get the beach nearly to yourself.... From here it's only a 10ish min walk to the town...

Nothing wrong with Hoseasons as long as you don't pay the price they quote and you do your homework about what's actually included and guess what......................... ........... barter for what you want.

I use Hoseasons for booking boats of cottages and always get a deal well below "catalogue" , "internet prices".
