So the Stoke lot left
Now the Wolverhampton lot are leaving
When are the Newcastle bunch departing?

Or is there a major signing on the way?

Oxford University South Walls College

Marvellous

Ps

Did anyone notice that we have been invaded by the Chinese Communist Party

Thought not

Not quite. Staffordshire university still have a presence in Stafford on balckheath lane.

I’m surprised Wolverhampton university have pulled out of Stafford as they are keen to take education to the people and away from the main university centre.

What Stafford really needs is a dedicated sixth form college. The current situation of having 6th formers bussed all over Stafford to do different subjects at different schools is a waste of time and resources. The beaconside site would be ideal for this purpose.

Now of only we had a forward thinking council.

Does the College not serve the purpose of 6th form college? It did in my day.

Totally agree. My kid ended up at Adams Grammar to ensure she got a proper 6th experience, not the Stafford collegiate taxi based offering. Finding decent 6th form provision was really stressful, looked at Stoke 6th form college, looked at Stafford Grammar, neither ticked the boxes. Just grateful she got in to Adams.

It's interesting to read these posts. I got half a dozen O level GCE's at Kingston in 1963, that was pretty forward thinking for a secondary modern in those days. I was transferred to the Grammar School for sixth form and A levels but I couldn't stick that school (Newport Road) for more than 3 months. They had laboratory equipment in there that Faraday had chucked out, I'm sure of that.

So I f***ed off and made my own way. That had its ups and downs, but I'm not complaining. Roller coasters are far more exciting.

It used to, but the schools pulled it all back in house years ago. They've recently started A levels again, maybe the last 5 years, but there are much fewer subjects and more to be studied alongside vocational courses.
I can’t imagine doing my A Levels at a school tbh, the difference in freedom between that and an actual college must be significant

The irony of Wolverhampton uni advertising on the Stafford 10k t-shirt given they're closing the site!
