Burning stuff.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for a good Ryobi deal

I think I have everything of theirs I need. Even their strimmer is pretty good. But I noticed they have a bigger more powerful range now but the batteries are very expensive.

Why do so many people burn rubbish in their garden? especially this time of year when people have windows open. Inconsiderate and not good for the environment either.

I know sometimes the burning smell is due to chase fires but not always.
And just as I've got the washing out too!!

I’ve got a few I don’t need too… have yet to use the Jigsaw or Circular Saw

The SDS is fantastic though, makes easy work of any wall in our house

That's one thing I don't have, a cordless SDS. I have a cheap corded one I got from Argos years ago. It's massive and heavy, it's been quite useful for chiselling, fit the chisel bit and turn off the rotation.

That's annoying too. I think I have a major aversion to smoke after having lived in houses with mostly open fires. But the chimney at the last one wasn't very good and the room would get very smokey.

My cheapo Lidl mains SDS is a marvellous thing. Anything with that capability would have been an unjustifiable purchase many years ago, but, as you say, these things can be a little cumbersome - the Lidl one, though, does have a very long lead.

On a whim, I got a DeWalt cordless one from the boot sale about five years ago. The mains one gets plugged in only for really serious stuff now. All the masonry drilling for the shelving jobs in the "Weekend" thread were done with the cordless SDS making the wallplug holes.

If you prize the chiselling facility, then do check that your chosen cordless model does have the facility to hammer without rotation - for some reason, few cordless ones offer that function, mostly it's just hammer + rotation or rotation without hammer. The DeWalt does have 'hammer only' and it is, as you say, very handy for quickly easing a concrete edge for a better fit and that sort of thing.

Definitely get it, it’s fantastic.

Oh yeah, that was very useful for tidying up the lacklustre job our landscapers did of laying slabs, as the edge of the border had all sorts of concrete overflowing from under that they didn’t bother tidying up. Sorted with a chisel bit at the start of lockdown when I got tired of staring at it

At the risk of getting shouted/laughed at, what's an SDS please?
For more clarity, the very big and noisy drills used for making short work of brickwork and concrete.

For the ladies, available in a deep pink colour, currently with a free set of drills in knitting needle sizes.

Example of one with no 'hammer only' setting, too.

Can't help but think that if @Gramaisc disappears it could be because a local female has had a go at him with an SDS and a large fluted masonry drill bit. :P
