Strange. Postie was doing their round today and we had two letters delivered. When did we last get Sunday deliveries?
I saw a postie in a van going around that new Baswich House estate (forgot what it's called...) on one of my walks on a Sunday earlier in the year.

Presumably clearing some of the backlog from two days of strikes.
And I've known it in December.
Royal Mail's controversial plans are for letter deliveries only Monday to Friday and parcel deliveries seven days a week.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Post was being delivered in my road on the Sunday prior to the strikes.

We've had a few Sunday deliveries lately. Also saw a mail train on Friday and there were trolleys on the sorting office platform yesterday.

But was the mail train was just passing through, on the usual London, Warrington and Glasgow route ?
The 'Yorks' on the platform are usually just an overflow from the Delivery Office, most often before Christmas and during strike action.

I don't half seem to attract them!

Originally joined the Next Door site after finding and helping to successfully rehome a stray cat. Only look on it to see if anyone else has lost pets so that I can keep an eye out , and to have a nose at what's going on .

It had a 'woman' who was originally a man asking for friends to meet up and chat with on it a while ago. Obviously I didn't reply .....Now suddenly getting bombarded with connection requests from him/her as in my local area .... Account deleted ! 😂

Found out the brown garden bin subscription for this house has now run out 16th September . Rang them up to enquire about me taking it over..... £74 for a service only mid March to start of December :o

Makes Stafford's 12 month service for £36 seem a good deal compared to here.

It's now out the front waiting to be collected back . Not paying that when I've got a big composter (courtesy of previous owner) , most of the leaves and branches are from the woods next to me, so can go back to where they belong, and a council tip a short drive away if really needed!

At Brian Cox live tonight. Weird thing about being at a non-music gig as a mostly-music gig goer is the urge to tell "WOOOOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEEAAAAAH!" when the lights go down and the, erm.. Professor of partical physics walks out on stage.
I'd be tempted to do it anyway. He's a rock n roll kind of guy. He may appreciate it lol.

Found this forum very useful searching back for the date I last went to the opticians !

Only really going to make sure my driving varifocals are still ok , as I HATE eye tests. (Not failed to end up on the floor yet! )

Booked in for an eye test at a small family run opticians tomorrow and they've asked me to take along past prescriptions which I slung during the house move because they were crap anyway. (Reading glasses prescribed by Vision Express whilst having a bloodshot eye, thumping headache and drinking a glass of water after doing my usual trick , are still too strong 4 years later . Still using previous ones instead)

At least I've now got the date to tell them , ready for a telling off ( Got Covid excuse this time for leaving it so long...... )

Do they normally ask you what doctors you're with ? Maybe they've heard of my reputation...at least the GP surgery is just around the corner 😂

I'm in the same position, various things have got in the way of doing it, but I can still read a number plate a good way off and see TV aerials, etc.

It's actually five years for me, again checked by use of the Forum.

I'm booked in shortly. My main concern is that the frames are beginning to fail. I had two pairs and the nose pieces have steadily failed, i only have one original pad left. I made the other three up from odd ones, kept from old frames. One of the lenses cracked last winter, when I went outside from a warm room into some light snow. What I thought was a flake melted onto the front of the lens turned out to be a star-shaped crack, right in the 'bit you usually look through'.

Hopefully, I will shortly be back to square one...

4 years for me , although the driving varifocals seem perfectly ok , I could do with some super duper ones which cut out the glare of oncoming LCD headlights . Don't know if they actually exist , and if they do I imagine they are super expensive, but even if not could do with different frames not blocking so much side vision. I take them off to reverse....
