Likely just to be a sensor issue. They might even be able to just reset the fault code and that will do it, if they know what they're doing. However do check the oil with the dipstick before you drive any further, just in case they were monumentally incompetent and either didn't refill the oil or didn't put enough in.

As a general rule of thumb DON'T USE HALFORDS FOR CAR SERVICING AND REPAIRS. Instead spend a bit of time finding a reputable local independent, who actually employ mechanics, rather than fitters. In Stafford that would be @Coles Autotech but there will be similar in Worcester if you look.
We use @Coles Autotech (used to be @AA Silencers) great service and prices

Went over Sainsburys earlier, only went for a couple of things - hah!! Spent a bloody fortune.
Saw @littleme had question why she was in work, didn't look too good.
Anyhows, her nails!!! OMG gorgeous int the word. I really wish we were allowed posh nails, but sadly the caring profession doesn't allow that :ohno:
:ohno:
I'm there because I have to be, 2 years ago the whole household would have to be in isolation....but now you can test posative and still work if you feel well enough ( I'm negative for those that are worried, but my daughter minime is posative).

I get my nails done at Queens nails in town by the Vine, thank you for the compliment.

They're pretty plain compared to what some have done......in honor of Bonfire night...

Will check dipstick before setting off tomorrow .
Coming up with a white coloured oil can followed by % 99
Hoping they can just reset a button somewhere , but as son pointed out it should be 100% full if they've just filled it anyway.
Last year after Brocton service station did it , the ' change oil' message came up and they hadn't reset it.

On Vauxhalls the “oil%” is actually an oil change due indicator & nothing to do with oil level. It counts down from 100% based on time & mileage. It should go off after a few minutes & can be reset using dash buttons etc depending on model. It might tell you in the handbook how to do it.
I’d wholeheartedly agree with the comments about Halfords , I wouldn’t even trust them to for a bulb.
P. S. As others have said. Deffo check the oil level before starting the engine.

We did try pushing the display button but couldn't shift it off. But will get the hand book out in the morning before setting off , and check the oil level as well. The error message wasn't on while I was driving the 3 miles home immediately after the garage , as I can remember looking at the mileage being 100 since last fill up , and thinking I'd better top up this weekend. Can't even get the mileage display on since setting off to go shopping tonight.

Went to that Halfords as they did a good job on sons MOT and servicing the past 2 years .
Last year when Brocton hadn't reset a button , a different message 'Oil Change' came up and not the oil can symbol....

It's probably because they've changed the oil and the car thinks there is a problem because it's been emptied. As others have said do check the oil level before going anywhere.

To reset the alert press the menu button on the left indicator stalk then scroll through until the oil light symbol shows. Scrolling is either by toggling the up and down arrows on the stalk or pressing menu again (depends on which Vauxhall you've got).

Press and hold the reset button on the end of the stalk and it should bleep and reset.

If the alert goes out but comes on again when you start the engine then you have a problem.

Oooops , apparently just a count down to next oil change which is normally hidden and alerts you when it reaches 10 % , as it originally was on the drive back. (I did check the oil before setting off , new and full). The bloke originally answering the phone last night , and having the keys off me this morning , didn't know that either. Said to leave it there and come back in a bit....

They just pressed something and it went back to normal , but at least took advantage of free parking smack bang in the centre of the city for 3+ hours while we left it there , went off and had a nice morning out getting breakfast and a good look around the shops. :D

Nice brekkie out (Sssssh! Don't tell hubby I'd already had porridge and a Jam doughnut before setting off ...it's very rare he wants to eat out so wasn't going to say no when he suggested it 😂 )

Lots of money spent choosing my xmas pressies off hubby which I actually liked myself and not the hideous expensive things he kept telling me to try on and trying to secretly tell the assistant to bag up and hide from me (Luckily nothing gets past hawk-eye / big ears me ;) ) .
He was about to buy me some right granny looking tops , one that made me look like a rugby player, and a long black dress/jumper type thing that made me look like dracula

Nice morning out in the end!

@BobClay have you got a relation in Stafford called Marion Clay? Reminded of her with 'Yazz - the only way is up' playing in the pub.
Fond memories of her singing that in GEC accounts 😂

If not , if Marion is still out there, hope she Is doing OK!

@staffordjas Not to my knowledge. The Clay's (my Old Man's side of the family) seem to have mostly had a run of bad luck. My Grandparents lived in Sheridan St since between the wars having moved to Stafford from Salop, (my grandmother on that side was Welsh.) . They had three sons. The eldest, went away to war, and is buried in a cemetery on that long road up to Arnhem. The second son, (my Old Man) went away to war and came back wounded out and married a mad Irish woman, thus producing me.) The third son (too young for WW2, just as well I suspect) wised up and moved down into the Black Country, where most of my family on that side now live.
I'm not criticising Stafford here, it's where I was born and bred, but life twists and turns, like a snake caught with forked stick.

(Well that's enough homegrown philosophy for one post. We all know the entire Universe is as mad as a sweet biscuit covered in Marmite !!) :P
