Guy just did the EPC, very thorough, even measuring gaps under doors etc. Interestingly when I said it was currently an EPC of D he said thats because the person who paid for the EPC was selling, if I'd paid for one as a buyer it would have been much lower! Just gotta wait to hear back now, said the new funding has more hoops so will know more in a week or two.

I was offered a 5 year warranty for 300, but he said I could probably get insurance cheaper.
I'd snap their hand off. I just paid 56 quid a month for a 6 months part, labour, service etc etc thingy direct from Worcester Bosch! A service from them was 200 an something so it seemed better value. Tried some local non Bosch boiler repair people who offered me an appt in Jan!

My concern is he mentioned needing a yearly service for the warranty to be valid? Also for a 2 year old boiler it seems you can get insurance for £50 a year if ok with a £100 excess, and that includes a service.

You really need to have a boiler services annually.

Warranty is definitely invalid if you don't have a service every year. I have a feeling that insurance might be with who I work for...

And are they worth going with? :strange:

My boiler hasn't been serviced officially in probably 7 years. It's been looked over, but no paperwork. This policy says it includes a service, yet looks cheaper than getting it serviced independently?

They give you a dirt cheap price in the first year, then ramp it up in year two unless you ring and threaten to leave.

I have found their service, when I've needed to call them out for various things, to be very good. Ditto when they've been out to my folks.

Certainly way better than BG.

Non mandatory insurance, price it cheap to get you in. Most of gas and all the plumbing engineers are directly employed so in theory they're good. A service costs us a lot more than £50 so you are getting a lot for free.

To take your boiler on cover they will do a health check though, so if it has loads.of problems the insurance will be cancelled.

Just checked, we haven't got £50 boiler cover (our cheapest is £96) so you might be looking at another company.

That quote was after saying it was a 2 year old boiler that had yearly checks, I'm assuming quotes vary depending on age? Under no illusion it'll be just like car insurance where the best deal is always to move company every year!

It looks like I will get an EPC out of it; currently I have no cavity wall insulation, so I expect my property to come out at E (D at best), based on other similar properties near me. So, following the EPC, I have been told I should qualify for wall insulation as well. I won't qualify for a heat pump (as my gas boiler is only around 6 years old). I don't know if I'll qualify for solar panels, but I intend to ask.

As for the inspection, the person who called me couldn't say how long it will take, other than to expect someone to contact me, to arrange an appointment.
My Green Homes Grant application is progressing, my survey is scheduled for next week.

Is it still called the green homes grant? Or is it eco 4?

I think I'm still on eons to do list, but they haven't got around to calling me yet about it and I've had half the stuff done myself anyway! New gas boiler should be in 2 weeks, loft insulation was today (for what that was worth!)

The email I had, earlier this week, referred to it as 'Green Homes Funding'.

Just had a missed call from someone from broadoak, who are the contractors for eon. I no longer meet the requirements for them so a bit late!
