Home zones it what they're called? I can see they would be good, but does it allow people to commute to work?

The carer doesnt even walk to the local shops, he drives! I will not not drive unless I'm going to town/work.,..
I am not a number... I'm a free man🤣 you are number 6. Oh ok I'll keep my driving to a minimum then🤣🤣🤣

If I recall correctly, the last iteration of the EDR would not have actually encouraged drivers to Baswich Lane. It skirted around Saxon Fields and then went straight through the grounds of Walton High School and then over to the Cannock Road. Something similar to this…

Yes, that's as I remember it, but there might be the temptation to use the northern half of it with Baswich Lane rather than with the not quite so direct southern half.

This was the last option put forward…

Thered section will link Hydrant way through to St Thomas Bridge/Farm then continue over the back lanes and along Baswich Lane.

There is currently an application to build 10 dorm-a bungalows where the Roundabout was proposed, as the blue section was deemed too expensive.

The dorm-a bungalows will also encroach onto part of the green route, which was also also dropped.

Hydrant Way will continue through to St Thomas Bridge/Farm, being constructed by the Developers (Redrow)

St Thomas Lane will divert from St Stoma’s Bridge to join the Tixall Road at the Traffic Lights.

Thanks. I hadn't realised that Hydrant Way would be a continuation of St Thomas Lane like that, the western third of St Thomas Lane becoming a cul de sac, but it makes sense.

On this note did anyone see a thing about 15 min neighbourhood areas... Sounds horrific to me...

Because? My understanding is each community would be able to get whatever they need within a 15min walk or cycle? They aren't open prisons, just a way of reducing the need to drive. What sounds horrific in that?

When it's not safe to get your child out of the car seat because you are worried a speeding driver will take the car door off, you out, or even hit your child, or you get a mouthful of abuse that can cause major anxiety. It is life ruining and I don't need professional help.

The whole point of my orginal post was that its not taking thr pressure of the main roads. Revisit the image I posted.

Actually I think you'll find I'm anti cars full stop. We should be investing in a decent public transport and walking and cycling network. But as you were
I'm sure I read on here not that long ago that you own a car... 🤔
I'm going to end by saying there have been numerous bad crashes on the Eccleshall Road in the past 12 months. One caused structural damage on someone's house, couple of weeks back a nasty one at the junction with the Holmcroft road. The police were there and I asked them when something was going to be done about the speeds I witness almost daily along there and the number of nasty accidents. People come flying off the motorway, boy racers overtaking all along. The policemen was generally shocked that there was an issue with speed or bad driving and said speed was the responsibility of the council. So no one gives two f*cks basically.

Yep, the fact that the whole population is beholden to car drivers, everything is planned around car drivers, no other from of transport or concerns over air quality, peoples quality of life, the safety of children, it matter not one jot. All that matters is not inconveniencing the motorist and their selfish wants. More civilised and community minded countries have long since realised how backward this is and shifted focus on the needs of the residents. The streets and neighbourhoods are much better places for it. Maybe if car drivers couldn't make the lives of residents miserable and access restrictions were imposed they might use alternative forms of transport that benefit everyone. LTNs all round please 😉
As far as I am aware that was a car failing to stop for the police.

Yes I own a car. My place of work is almost impossible to reach without one. But I don't use residential roads, I don't speed, and I walk and cycle where possible. I've never said ban cars, I've said stop the wants of car drivers being prioritised over all else. And I'm not alone in this. Amsterdam is currently removing hundreds of car parking spaces to accommodate bikes, children playing and planting schemes

I’m not convinced it will happen. House construction on the Red Row estate finished at least a year ago. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are trying to get out of building the road.

There has to be the impetus for change from the government. It will never happen with the Tory party in charge. They don’t want to fund anything including the NHS, new affordable homes, road repairs or improvements. There is no chance of changing the existing infrastructure to accommodate more cyclists or public transport especially as the Tories won’t get anything in their own pockets for it.

On a general note: All roads are for use by everyone but let’s try to be a bit more thoughtful and think about how we use them. I’m certainly trying to and I bloody love driving my car.

Probably as I hear they are in dispute with the Council.
Council should insist on developers building the roads first. It must have been well over a year, if not 2, before Hydrant Way was finally opened.

Maybe we should ask our MP to sort it out.
No, maybe not.

What's horrific...

Well, we are lucky in Stafford, we can drive to any supermarket within a 15 min journey, but what if you live in a really rural place, like parts of Wales? Your stuck using the local co-op that literally charges 3 X the price (of supermarkets) for even the most basic items.

We go to Newquay in Wales a few times a year, the nearest propper supermarket is in Aberystwyth..a 42 min drive....

Nothing would ring a death bell more for Stafford town centre than restricting the remaining few that still travel to the town for the few remaining shops we have. If making it more difficult to travel to and from Stafford is the council's best idea for the future I think the towns in trouble.

I can't get to a supermarket in 15 minutes (unless it's the middle of the night and Newport Road traffic lights are with me).
