My 72 yr old wife tripped on an upturned rusty griddle 18 mths ago in Stafford town square banging her head and hurting her legs, there were also loose cobble stones and missing ones which we took photos of. Made a formal complaint and clouncil tried discouraging tactics like asking for exact locations and witnesses, we gave them both and also suggested they looked at their own CTTV. They passed it on to their solicitors, who replied to us saying "they are satisfied with the council's standard of upkeep of the square, case closed" !!
Neither the council or the solicitors asked about my wife or that they were sorry to hear of her injury.
We should have gone straight to injury claims solicitors but we thought the council would be more concerned about their council tax payers,
lesson learned !
