Stafford shops closing - Turning into a ghost town?

We know that it's not as good as the Coach and Horses but demolition of the Waggon and Horses would prevent it ever becoming a really good pub.
I think I may be missing something here, by dodging the place, but what exactly what is good about the Coach?

Asking for a friend.

It's a proper pub with diverse customers and often a decent pint - but nothing like as good as when Ray Till kept it from 1974 to 1989.

is diverse customers modern parlance for "characters", don't mind Jack, he is only having a laugh.

Partly. But mainly it's utter shite with people kicking the crap out of each other. It may be a pub with character but it's hardly warm and welcoming.

On the positive side, if you're enjoying a meal in Ayo Gorkali or an evening summers drink outside the Posthouse, it provides a good source of entertainment.

The Star wars bar was full of diverse customers most of whom were freaks so I can see what you mean.

I'm still not seeing what makes it a good pub though.

The Waggon is having the roof done based on what I’ve seen as I’ve driven past. Bar still looks open though.

I’ve only been in there twice, it felt a bit like a locals local (not necessarily a bad thing), the beer was cheap and fine though.

I didn't mean to suggest it's anything like the best pub in town, except before 11am when it's got a cask beer on which it hadn't on Tuesday.

Just realised, yet another thread taken over by ruddy pub talk. Can't we at least keep it in the Pubs & Eating out bit please?

It wasn't me who asked "What's happening to the Wildwood pub, all signage stripped, fences around it ?" !
