I read the rats at 10, did me no harm :strange:

I actually bought it at my primary school jumble sale!
I did too, Think I found mine in the library though, luckily my parents had no idea what the books were i was reading else they certainly wouldn't have approved. I then found the sequels or had them ordered in and loved those too. It's not that she isn't allowed to read those, nothing in fact on my shelves are out of bounds, heck she could even read the sex book if she wanted to lol. She just finds anything with intimate scenes too cringy to read and we all know a lot of horror books have a fair amount of sex in them. Fortunately I quite like a fair bit of YA fiction too so she ploughing through those currently. She has just started the Carter Kane series by Rick Riordan. She's polished off all the Percy Jackson and Trials of Apollo and all of the Skulduggery Pleasant we own.

I read and studied Gullivers Travels as part of my A levels (never completed, found I liked pubs better than college) it would not be an easy read in it’s written English.
I reread it about twenty years ago and was surprised to find it contained the word 'diuretic', relating to how he put the fire out in the Lilliput emperor's palace. I was able to find the actual copy that I first read aged about eight or nine and it was identical in terms of using the original text. This surprised me as I don't remember finding it 'odd' at the time.

Today I painted three walls and a ceiling white. Tomorrow the remaining wall will be painted. I am settling down with a tall whiskey. It would be wine but am a bit wine jaded at the moment so having a few days off it.

A day that started off good with the organised walk for health , and nice chat over a cuppa & biscuits after it , soon changed ...

Nearly knocked myself out in Tesco car park , and did my neck & shoulder in in the process. Couldn't see much with the torrential rain lashing down and my hair blown across my face. Rushed to slam the boot back down and BANG
...crashed it down on my head. 😭

Then had to drive to the pharmacy for our repeat prescription meds , seeing stars and feeling sick. Forced myself to go , rather than straight back home as need them. Got there to find they've had no Internet for 7 days & can't process any prescriptions sent through by doctors. Told to contact surgery and get them resent elsewhere

Have you seen anyone after banging your head? Concussion can be very serious & long lasting. Please do if any of the symptoms last more than a few hours.

My day wasn't much better, went to the drs to get the 2nd lot of results from my diabetic blood tests, after the first lot showed sodium way too low, and I was held hostage for an hour as they don't know what to do with me.

Good news is my diabetes is nearly undetectable and on par with someone who is non diabetic.

Bad news , sodium even lower than the first time & kidney filter function way below normal. More blood tests, and urine too to rule out infection (pretty sure I'd know though). Stupid kidneys, what do they think they're doing?!

No. Still got bad headache , but shoulder/neck killing me the most, even after a soak in a hot bath.
Been unusually tired tonight, hoping that's nothing to do with it..? :hmm:

At this rate me & hubby will both be in hospital together ( Surgery rang today , after getting hospital heart scan/xray etc results the GP wants to see him again :hmm:)

Paracetamol ain't working . Might have to abandon my " I'm abstaining from booze til friday" vow.....
( 44 yrs on Friday since we met, we always celebrate that anniversary so booked for a meal out)

I know someone who recently had a fall while walking her dog & had concussion, she thought it was nothing, but weeks later after persistent headache found she had fractured her skull, and 2 months later is still having headaches, dizzyness & confusion. She's not a silly idiot, she's a very intelligent person who just thought a broken nose & 2 black eyes wasn't worth being checked. Get it checked tomorrow @staffordjas if you still have pain/headache etc.....

Make sure you do..... By order of the forum.

So it doesn't matter if you die whilst your blinds are fitted and the sons plumber comes round? You look after yourself you daft bint, or we'll come down there and get you sorted ourselves. You're still OUR @staffordjas , there's no escaping, no matter where you move to.

@staffordjas
You’ve described many of the symptoms of concussion. I don’t want to alarm you but you REALLY MUST GET IT CHECKED OUT. Concussion is a really serious but very underestimated condition & can take many weeks to recover. Untreated it can cause serious long term brain injury.
GET LOOKED AT!!

Son's offered to drive me to docs in morning if needed, I'll see how I am.
Headache not so bad now at this moment & not sleepy now its bedtime. Just my neck & shoulder killing on the other side to the bruised side .

Hopefully will wake up in morning and be feeling much better..

Headache gone a lot at the moment after this mornings paracetamol , just my neck and shoulder. So will hunt out the hot pack/water bottles for now and see how it goes by tomorrow.

Anyway , just remembered a fact I was told during walking group yesterday whilst walking near to our house All the roads on our part of the villages are named after castles , including Stafford Castle (never put 2+2 together before why we have a Stafford Avenue around the corner, get reminded of my roots daily ....we've got a Wildwood Drive nearby as well 😂 ).

I wouldn’t bother with gp, they’ll probably just send you to A&E.
It’s a pain in the arse but you really should get to hospital, especially as you said you felt sick after a head injury.
I definitely agree with proactive & Joshua about painkillers, they’re great at masking pain but they don’t cure anything & that in itself can be dangerous.
