.
Has anyone heard from @staffordjas ?!
I thought that today, nothing since she said son was taking her to drs/hospital.....

@staffordjas ........ Are you ok
Yes , think I'm OK ta. ( Been busy spending hours running around pharmacies and on phone to docs for both me and hubby ).

No blurred vision or dizziness , headache not so bad (not all the time now) , and seem back to normal except for shoulder & neck pain from bruising. Apparently I did the worst thing lying with my head under a hot bath straight after. (Should have remembered from my running injury days to use ice not heat!)

My old cat just caught his first mouse in over 12 years (no idea if he caught any before we got him) Mousie victim is still with us, just looks rather dazed. If it's still alive, youngest spawn will relocate it down at the local park to continue it's mousie ways. Mouse has been lucky in a way, hiding in the kids bedroom even with Salem was safer than being in one of the dog areas where we also have a trap that dispatched it's friend last month. Salem is a house cat and when we moved he claimed the kids room and can't be arsed to leave it. 2 comfy beds, a warm windowsill, treats and cuddles on tap. He says he's not daft.

I am working on one of the highest profile software implementations I have ever worked on, and in the past I tested Pets at Homes tills, so you know, I am a bit of a big deal, regardless, this one is an absolute nightmare, previous programme manager said do things this way, I say its bad to do things that way, they said dont care, do it this way. I do it that way. New Programme manager comes in and says why are you doing things that way, because the business wanted me to do things that way, dont do it that way and you know, I want to get rid of you for doing it that way, so I stopped doing it that way, ambiguous story short, they are more happy with me as the week progressed and I wont be kicked off this client.
When I am eventually kicked off this client I will fill in the blanks, but enough to say, its been a hell of a week.

I was an engineer.

I studied engineering.

But, something like a criminal psychology course would have been much more useful.

I find myself in a situation where the people in charge of delivery and technology disagree, but rarely talk, so I am left to go between them. To make things even more fun they outsourced the design, what came back is not functional but I was told explicitly to follow it but also to make it work. So we're doing it wrong, we know we're doing it wrong, and we've said we're doing it wrong, but as long as it's all following the company plan that is what we have to do.

We have a demo next week where they will realise how wrong it is, then we will have to explain that they got what they asked for rather than what they wanted.

We had a thing that didn't work.

I showed that you could make it work by taking out a lot of bits and replacing a spring with a stronger one.

Everything would look exactly the same, to anybody without x-ray vision, but it would actually function.

They decided that we couldn't even do that to the future ones or people might notice it and want all the old ones changing.

Meal at Millar & Carter to celebrate 44 yrs together , after that chance meeting in The Grapes when the coaches came to The Grot.

Got to restaurant earlier than booked , so offered the same food we'd already planned on but in the early bird offer so saved over £30 on the 3 courses. (3 courses £17.95).

Then in another pub , looking like drowned rats in the rain, for 2 for price of 1 bottles of Old Mout so having one each.

Bargain night (especially with my free bus pass & hubby's £2 bus fare down here)

Cheapish taxis sitting waiting outside for when we're ready to go home .

Tills, you programme tills? Oh the things I could tell you. We all think these things are programmed* by single blokes in their late 50's that only online shop and have never used a till in their life..... Tell me I'm wrong....

I studied for a BSc honours in computer programming at Stafford uni in the late 90's early 20's ( as a mature student, hahahaha)... 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Unheard of then for a female, I think there were 2 of us. I wanted to do gaming programming, but it wasn't an option.

Thankfully I don’t programme, I tested tills, at the moment I manage a team that does testing. I preferred doing the testing.

The issue is usually a lot of programmer and not a lot of designer to be honest.

See: most automotive software. It wasn’t until Carplay, Android Auto and Tesla’s own OS that other automakers realised that maybe they should hire some UI/UX designers as well.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Little could compensate for being back in the UK but I must say that the Goodwood Members Meeting actually managing it. Great racing, meeting up with lots of friends and my favourite hotel.

If only the wine was free it would be perfection.

Youngest says there's at least 7 gypsy caravans parked up at one of the GE buildings up the Redhill industrial estate.
1 had the cheek to ask a work colleague of his to help them lift a barrier for ease of access. He was in full work get up, hi-viz the lot, so politely declined.

We saw a few on beaconside last night heading away from there, remarked at the time they could be gypsies but was too dark to see vehicle details.

Had Samsung send someone out to fix my charging port on my phone, turns out it was just crap in it! I tried to clean it myself with a needle but had trouble getting around the port, he said it was pretty wedged in and lots of people break the ports when trying to clean. Still feel a bit of an idiot!

I use the SIM removal tool supplied with my iPhone when cleaning the charging point. A needle is too thin.

Heard voices & drilling this afternoon, looked out...workmen cutting out the recently reinstated pavement around our water meter. That bit was perfectly fine!
Just that patch being dug up , no-where else.
Big hole dug , filled in and tarmaced over the meter cover. Sent hubby out ( as I was having a bloody fit !) To say to leave our meter cover accessible .

Looks like neighbours have contacted either our insurance contractors or national grid asking for tarmac to park their cars on, instead of the stones contractors put down to replace the damaged lawn. But other than the public pavement part ( which didn't need re-doing) today's workmen didn't touch anywhere else.:hmm:

We had to go out and scrape the wet tar from around our cover with a screwdriver after to be able to get to the meter to check readings for ST.
Hopefully they haven't disturbed our finally fixed pipes as they were thudding away at the tarmac!
