The front door was open all last night.

Not just unlocked, but wide open.

Nothing seems missing - or additional.

The house has had a good airing...

Our joint works do was last weekend, in Whitchurch. It was a great time. Wished it hadn't happened when I had to pick up the bill...
Is "joint works" a posh term for a grow house?

Ours is at The Moathouse this year, all booze included, rooms paid for for non Stafford staff.
Some people will still find a reason to moan.
Hubby's work had a few christmas do's at The Moathouse in the past. Most years they paid for us to stay over. One year it was a coach, which I didn't catch as I ended up walking home p1ssed up on my own to Wildwood after I'd asked hubby to dance & he said no. I went to the loo & came back to find him dancing with someone else
Handbag aimed at her head , then walked home midnight in the pitch black down the Acton Trussell lanes in my platform shoes 😂

Loads of burglaries around by us lately. Then son walks into our house the other day with my keys in his hand.. I'd left them in the front door outside :o

Glam,
£200 is six times ( at today's prices ) what my colleagues and I, also public sector, would pay for a Christmas dinner and a few pints.
Each paying for the more extravagant Christmas do often experienced by private sector employees suggests that you must all get on well at work.
We all get on fine with one another thank you.
I'm not exactly sure what you are getting at, baiting me isn't going to work.
What I do with my wages is nothing to do with anyone but myself.

I’ve just realised that I have never worked anywhere that’s had a Christmas party.
That's a shame. But lots of us haven't been jetting off to far away climes , enjoying the chance to see the highlife ( mile high club...not saying you did though🤪) .....I'm on my 4th pint..😉😂

I'm really jealous of you BA air stewardess job though , must have been fab.

Yes. It was calm earlier in the morning and I had put the catch on the lock, to go and do something outside at the front, but forgotten to put the lock back to 'auto' and there is no visible indication of whether it is on or off. I went off on the bike later in the evening, to the pub about three miles away, returning at about midnight, by which time the wind had got up, which was actually a pleasant benefit on the return journey. I accessed the house via the combination lock at the back, having put the bike in the Shed, as usual - I didn't have the front door key on me anyway. I spent a short period in the kitchen and then went to bed - there's a reasonable chance that the door had blown open by then, but I just didn't notice. There is a Bales catch that holds it shut when the latch is held off, but that will not resist much of a wind situation.

I have mentioned it to 'my' cat, on the basis that she might nip in and tell me, if I do it again.

Glam,
I misinterpreted your earlier comment, honestly hadn't realised employees would spend such an amount on their Christmas do and apologised for my mistake and any distress it caused you.
It is of course entirely up to each of us how we spend our wages or pensions and if you "all get on fine" then it was probably money well spent.
I most certainly was NOT "baiting" you.

I should get to the Eagle Vaults again sometime.
I got to three Stafford pubs, a pint in each, this lunchtime.
I'm venturing beyond Woodseaves tomorrow lunchtime.

My best friends daughter (late teens, early 20s at the time) was a air stewardess for a while, hated it , glorified cafe staff at best, hours were awfull & most (male) passengers were awfull too, especially on long haul. Accomodation on lay overs was terrible too.....it's not all everyone thinks...

Yes you might meet me young rich & fabulous, but that's after putting up with loads of molestation & disgusting comments.

She went back to working as a waitress at Weston Hall, made more money & it was better hours!

My dad , a school teacher , used to have his ex pupils coming back to talk about their careers. He did actually say that an air stewardesses came back and gave a talk about really they were just glorified cafe workers having to deal with awkward passengers at the same time , and not as glamorous as expected

Just got home after 7 pints..I feel sober ( taxi driver might not agree). Went out intending on a latte.in the restaurant( which I actually had) followed by diet coke...... been out since our 'shopping trip for hubby's Christmas present' since 2pm. Intended to be back sober by 5pm-ish......
Bloody good spontanious / afternoon night though!
Non alcohol diet starts tomorrow until Christmas holiday ...

Warned son his invite to Sunday lunch will now probably be a quick slapped on beans on toast !

I was being polite when I said cafe worker.... Prostitute was more how it sounded, from the customers point of view....
