I see the Halifax has now closed
Stand by Me, claimed their bullsh1t box ticking advert.

I had an account with them since 1985, and dealt with some good staff there.

Hopefully the staff have got a decent transfer or settlement.

Yes, you can bank and invest online with Halifax but stand by me there are much better deals online than Halifax ever offer.

I tried to pay some cash at the Lloyds in Market Square a few weeks ago because I thought the Halifax had already closed.

Despite being in the same banking group they wouldn't accept it unless I had a Lloyds card.

Eventually I paid it into my NatWest account and transferred it over.

I think I shall be changing to a different bank that offers a real branch in Stafford. Any recommendations?

Hi bears
🐻
we hope you are all having a good week!
We don’t really know where to start with this post, I’ve written and re-written it in my head about 100 times in the last hour alone so I’m going to try and keep it short, but I don’t think I will!
After almost four incredible years of BHB, we will sadly be closing our doors on 8th June 2024. There are so many reasons that have led us to this decision, the main being constant price increases and a change in our personal lives.
It’s no secret that the hospitality industry has suffered a lot over the last year, with the cost of living crisis, energy prices, egg shortages followed by price increases, and now the cocoa crisis, all of which affect us.
We have also had a massive change to our personal lives with the arrival of our miracle baby BHB, we never thought we would be so blessed and she has completely changed our perspective on life
We have given our absolute everything and even more to BHB over the last four years, we’ve questioned closing on more than one occasion due to price increases, but we’ve battled on for the love of the business. Our priorities have now changed, and we need to put our family first
🤍
even without the price increase, the hours we need to put into BHB to keep it sustainable just aren’t feasible anymore as we want to spend time watching our miracle baby grow up
🤍

When we look back, we feel incredibly proud of our journey, from hobby lockdown baker to shopfront. We have achieved so much and learnt a lot more along the way, but for now it’s time to hang up our aprons (well, on 8th June), and say goodbye to this chapter of our lives. We would love to see you all in the next eight weeks
We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has supported us, the weekly regulars, the friends we’ve made, without you we wouldn’t have made it this far.

Fair play, understand this completely

Hickory's Smoke House
Interesting. Hickory's Smoke House are not one of GK's brands like Hungry Horse, Wacky Warehouse or Chef & Brewer, they are a Venture like Metropolitan Pub Co and Crafted Pubs. So what is the difference between a Brand and a Venture?

Time called on the Hungry / Kings Horse.

It's being transformed into a Hickory's Smoke House this autumn.

I googled their menu.

Goodness me, and they wonder why there is a national obesity crisis.

Still each to their own, freedom of choice.
