MOD Stafford, Friday 5th. Cant remember how much, but it was pretty good last year (albeit very wet)

If you want a big professionally done display, Shugborough on Saturday is probably your best bet

For smaller slightly more homemade displays (for want of a better phrase) the Rugby Club on the Newport Road and the Hockey Club on Riverway are worth considering

I can't seem to find any mention of a date for the Rugby Club display on their website but the Hockey Club display is on Sunday

I've been involved in the running of the Hockey Club display for many years and although it doesn't pretend to be anything spectacular it's a friendly family atmosphere with some good fireworks. Tickets are £5.00 for anyone over 14 and you can pay in advance through a team captain or a member of the club and you can also pay on the night

We've been to the Rugby club the last few years, but then we do live opposite it. It's normally a good value event and the fireworks seem to go on for ages.

Been to Shugborough in the past too. Excellent display, it's just a nightmare getting out afterwards.

don't mention the blinds
Great views for free can be had from Stafford Castle, take your own Special Brew just to enhance the spectacle......

that's exactly what we did a few years back and it was great!

for the last 3 years though we've gone to the railway inn, bought some pints and stood on the bridge to watch! sounds a bit cheapskate, but for the 3 years prior to that we'd gone to the rugby club via the signposted rear entrance (by the balancing lake) and there had been nobody there to give money to.

Mod is Thursday not Friday...
Saw the big banner out the front tonight

i'm guessing most of the info for the displays will be in today's express and star

The Rugby Club is on Saturday 6th November.
Gates open at 6pm, Fire lit at 7pm and fireworks at 8pm.

I beleive there is a small fair there etc.

Admission is:
Adults £5
Family (2 adults 2 children) £10
All persons under 16 must be accompanied by an adult I think

I'm off to Hednesford Hills Raceway, where there is banger racing then a fireworks display.

Is there an 'indoors' bit? My little one is a bit scared of loud noises but I'd like to go :D

I'm considering this too, it's been years since I have been to a stock car session!

We went (well I was dragged by the boy) at August Bank Holiday, it was actually quite fun.

We have tried the rugby club one it was okay but tbf I wasnt really convinced about the H&S there . fireworks went astray and were being let off out of sync and way too close to the crowd . course it was fun in a risky sort of way.

There are lots on this weekend suggestions abound above but if you are at aloose end the following weekend i would certainly recommend this one

Bonfire was enormous last year and the funfair is massive .. lots to do and all that .. and it's FREE !

if drive go early it gets very busy lots of people trying to find parking etc but you fancy a drink theres a bus stops almost right outside the place and you can get one home to town fairly late into the evening ..
I suspect this is where we will be going this year ..

I drove past this on Sunday. I can assure you that the pile of wood and pallets which is going to be set alight is nothing short of awesome. I've been to the donnington display before and also agree that it's spectacular.

I'm going to donnington again this year :) it's always good.

It takes the group that organises the event a whole year to plan etc.
