Local Nursery or Garden Centre

Hi all.

Can anyone recommend a local Garden Centre or Nursery?
I've just erected a mighty fine greenhouse in my back garden and would like to start populating it and get some new plants that aren't going to cost the earth (No pun intended).

Of course there is always Homebase and B&Q, but I know how extortionate they can be. I also took a drive over to Bradley Nurseries last week, but that seemed to be quite pricey too!!

To be honest I get all of my plants from the outdoor plant seller who turns up at the boot sale on the Common Road - never had a problem with anything ive purchased. Their advice is very good too (and half the price)

Is that the quite tall chap, usually in the far corner? Had some chillies off him before, and yes they were decent plants and quite cheap.

Used to be a nursery on Herbert Road, off Wolverhampton Road on the left just after the railway bridge. Still see Bob about so guess it's still there.

I swear by Johnson's in Eccleshall (just as you come in from Woodseaves) All they do is plant/Shrubs/pots etc without all the tat you get in most places. It is wht it is and it's not pretending to be a family day out!

Loads cheaper than the likes of Wyvale/Fletches/Fosters etc

We tend to mix up things from garden centres & wilkos with stuff we grow from seed. It depends on what you want to grow etc but sometimes bigger garden centres Wyvale, Bradley, Trentham etc may be pricy - but have a decent choice of things.

But then I'm the sad kind of person who enjoys going to garden centres as a day out!

I love Johnsons. Feels like a mini-break when I go there.

If we're talking about owning a greenhouse (and using it), the person who started the thread should consider growing from seed. Cheapest way of all.

Automatic window openers are a good investment, too. Somewhere else, we have disussed automated watering.

I will be using seeds, but really would like a grape vine to kick start things!!

Cheers for the tip Bob.

I've just been over and was well impressed. Just basic nursery with none of the greetings card or Jigsaw puzzles in sight that seem to be in all the bigger Garden Centres.

Right, now all I need to do is teach myself how to manage a Greenhouse!!! :eng101:

Afternoon folks, need some Lavender plants for a border, just some decent coverage, hardy plants that don't need too much looking after.

Best bet to get down the car boot tomorrow or head over to Johnsons as mentioned above?

Is Johnsons cheap?

If the car boot sale doesn´t have any - try Wilkos, I´ve some very healthy lavender plants in the front from there,,
