Because they believe they are a fashion accessory :)

I think the question I'd want to ask is why are people too lazy to wash it themselves? it's about the only exercise some people get.

Think you may have answered your own question there. :)

It's still open, had my car washed there this morning. Still the same excellent job. The caravan has gone and the site has had an offer made on it so it's only a matter of time before they will have to move elsewhere. They've got a massive amount of stock so I can't see them stop trading, just relocating.

Just been to the car wash on Grey Friars Place opposite the Triumph lighting shop. Looks like it has changed owners. They did a brilliant wash for £3.00 so very pleased. They have a range of options to choose from and do full car valets for £10. Highly recommended.

So they don't dirty the carpet in the garage when it's been raining.

Seriously, to stop them rusting. And because we're told to by society.

My car is made of aluminium and plastic, so I just wait for the guys at Audi to give it a wash for me when I have an MOT or service.

I believe that this place is now owned or at least operated by the same guys that have the car wash on Silkmore Lane.

There is a newish competing car wash at the BP station on Greyfriars itself, and the ensuing price/quality competition has been to the customers' advantage...

I know somebody who takes her flash Merc there, and she feels almost embarrassed to give them a few quid to have it returned 'show-room'.

Have used that one on occasion, always a good job. The £10.00 valet is spot on.

I use the one on Stone Road in the old petrol station. They do a very good job. Never any missed bits. Tyre shine and and air freshener included. Its was £5 the other day. However our car is rather large so I'm happy (it may be less for a smaller car). It takes me an hour to wash and dry it so a fiver in the winter months is well worth it. If you value your car do it yourself - otherwise pay someone else at the low prices we have at the moment!

I go to Stone, £12 for the inside and outside and they chuck in an air freshner.

I park there and go for a coffee of do a bit of shopping and come back to a sparkling car, and I don't have to pay for parking.

Little warning for anyone thinking of using the car wash down by FMS / the Superbowl / Halfords....

Went there today and as these sorts of places usually do, they wave you in and start washing without talking to you / asking what you want.... anyway before I knew it they were doing the £5 wash and I only wanted the £3 one...

Luckily I had enough cash on me (very lucky as I never normally carry much cash at all) and I was happy to pay the extra £2 for the extra stuff.... but a bit naughty to just assume without asking.

I went to the one on the corner of Gaol Road/Crooked Bridge Road on Sunday. Pretty decent job for £5....considering inflation, cost of living etc. Loads of soap, proper rinses, alloys cleaned and wheels shone. Interesting how they can do that with time and materials for that price?

An alternative - Amerton Farm! Went there last weekend - the usual £3, £5 etc offers. Went for the £7.50 option left the car for an hour - came back and it was absolutely spotless inside and out - glass cleaned and tyre slick to boot! Well impressed.

Obviously won't be going there just to get the car cleaned - but if you ever fancy feeding t'horses or seeing fat pigs one day I'd recommend getting your motor spruced up :)
