You sure about that... St. Chads was built in the 12 Century not long after 1066.

Popped in for a couple of pints on Wednesday evening. Aside from the group of Stafford Players who were upstairs, we were the only people in the pub, which is a shame. But then again, it was a Wednesday.

An interesting selection of Martson and Titanic beers on tap.

My only complaint, which I mentioned, was that the beer cooler was turned up far too high and the ale was super-chilled like a lager (which I noticed during the P&A days). But these things happen and are easy to rectify.

Have heard that the upstairs is to be a children's play area during the day. I'm sure this will attract many a parent, but might put me off during the day at least.

Its certainly nice to see this pub reopened, good luck to them. The ales were in good form when I went in, just a bit too cold as above, but in good nick.

One thing did cross my mind though, wouldn't it be nice if this old pub was called the Noahs Ark again?

My flat mate and I popped in last night, happy to tuck into to piping hot steak and ale pies (I vast difference from the last time I had a pie there) and washed it down with a pint of Iceberg. My friend, an ale affecianado, noted that he thought the ale was a little bit too cool and you could do with some art on the walls... I'm sure some students at the college / local art groups could oblige

Popped in today whilst out 'shopping'. The beer was cold , cold enough to stop me ordering a second, only one other person in whilst I was there . That said I cant wait to sit outside again once we get some sunshine. S A H do you have any comments re the temperature of the beer ?

As my better half is a fantastic local art student currently studying at Loughborough University, if you wished to take up Wormellas friends advice, she'd be happy to oblige...

Had a pint in there after work yesterday so it was probably about 5pm. There was only one other person in there, there were no menus on the table or anything around to try and "tempt" me in to trying any food - it was difficult to fathom whether they were actually offering food or not. Had a pint of Iceberg (Titanic) and the temperature seemed fine to me.

Maybe it was the time I went in but I have to say I was expecting more. I went in during the final days of the Pie & Ale House and to be honest when I went in the "new" Stafford Ale House yesterday nothing much seems to have changed. It still has that feeling of a place bumping along as it did just before it shut. I do wish it well as I really liked the Pie and Ale House (in its early days before it started to go down hill) and the Stafford Ale House has promise but I think they must up their game

I havent been in yet - been meaning to but everytime I've been past its been empty of customers and I find that off putting. Was going to go in on Monday but all the staff were sat having coffee in the window. Will do one day though, if only to find out if the coffee is better than the dismal offering they had towards the latter days at the Pie and ale.

Just to let you all know, we have had problems with the cellar cooler since being open and are awaiting for n engineer to fit it, we apologise for any inconvenience to this, just to say we do not put menu on to tables as our staff bring them to u when u have found your self a table of your choice, unfortunately we have been quiet on the odd days but so have many other place due to the weather, we are hoping that we will soon be busy again.

Hmmmm, I was sat for 45-50 mins when I was in (see above post) having a drink and no one came over, with or without a menu....As I say I may have been tempted to eat if I had known what was on offer - as I say it was far from busy, there was only one other bloke in there.

I'm not purposely being critical but I think it is important to feed back, I will return at some point but for me the place needs more of an identity and a bit of an atmosphere first.....

Well, I had a lamb and rosemary pie today, and took the new chip option. Very nice, as was the EPA that I had with it. I did notice that the new menu now includes a breakfast section with bacon sarnies and other such things as sandwiches, baked spuds, wet chips, filled oatcakes, etc. I believe that full details may follow...
