A Happy Meeting in Stafford - Chinese takeaway

Okay, I know it's a take away but this seems the most appropriate place to post

They've been our chinese ever since we moved away from by Sunny House just under a year ago. A few months back, I got quite the upset stomach from a sweet and sour but I wasn't sure it was the food.
I recently had it again, I've only really eaten toast in the day and had our take away for dinner and now have food poisoning. Has any one else had problems with them/ended up with food poisoning? I'm concerned that this has happened to me twice in less than a year. I have a weaker body than average as is with all my health conditions, so it knocks me about even more so. :( I'm thinking of reporting them to EH. :/

Trapnest , If you have any concerns you should inform E/H . its not pointing the finger its about protecting others , If their operation is above board and meets all standards then no harm done , but if E/H find problems , you may well save someone else from a similar experience.

Always use a happy meeting, last night was actually the last time I used them, zero complaints, good food as ever. I have never had any problems with their food at all.

This is the second time it's happened to me, both times I had sweet and sour. (which always tastes rather vinegary o.o ) The chicken seemed overcooked if anything, it was kinda chewey and a bit bitter, I put it down to the vinegarness and the chicken being overdone, but I'm not ill at all otherwise or eaten anything else that could cause stomach upset. Other than this, I've never had any problems and regularly have had chinese from there. (Probably too regularly being round the corner from it..) Since we moved away from Sunny House, we've also always used A Happy Meeting. It happens sometimes, things mishandled, every meal can't be perfect but I've never had anything this bad, painful or violent before either, it was horrid. EH need a fecal sample apparently but after 2/3 days now I seem to have recovered though my stomach itself is still a little weak. But I really would hate for anyone else to have this, especially kids or anything. I have a weakened immune system as it is so I'm lucky, it could have caused serious problems for me.

Co-incidentally, we went to ASDA and so popped in to Sunny House, it had just opened and smelled so clean, they'd clearly cleaned the shop prior to opening, you could tell, it was very pleasant and reassuring. The guy who used to serve us all the time wasn't there but the woman was very friendly (so smiley!) their duck fried rice is amazing. Just it's so far away to walk for a meal! I wish they delivered.

We had sweet and sour and again we havent had any problems at all. It may have been a rogue portion or it may be something completely unconnected. I personally can only speak for myself as you can only speak for yourself but of all the years I have been eating food from there, neither myself, wife or daughter havent had any untoward reaction to their food at all.

I had similar food poisoning once from a sarnie I got from the corner shop, taking a fecal sample aint pleasant when all you pass looks like pond water :s

Yeah, Pete. Like I said, eaten there a lot with no problems before but this made me so ill. :/ I know sometimes it happens but I almost ended up going off to A&E because I was struggling to function.. :(

tek, I'm recovered now.. in fact I've not been since I ended up crapping out my intestines. other than my tummy being sensitive. I've had a food poisioning on a couple of occassions before but nothing resulting in such horror. D: Pond water is more green. At first I was like o.o BABY GOLD LOL (you know, typical golden baby poop) and then it never ended and turned your lovely murky brown till I ended up crapping blood. D: (oh god, the details!) And it was dehydrating me so quickly despite me putting more water in as it came out (I know, ew) eventually just passed out on the floor hugging a bowl. :( It sure cleared me out. I thought i lost a few stone.. and somehow weighed heavier after..

You can understand my concern! Its not uncommon for an occassional take away to give someone the runs, it happens but I've never had such an unfortunate situation with my tummy. I may have just drawn the short straw.

I got Salmonellafrom Spain years ago and the green stuff and blood was coming out both ends for weeks . Very embarrassing having Environmental Health around the house and having to take daily samples into the labs which were in St Georges grounds at the time.
(I was lucky being one of the people who survived it though, being young and otherwise healthy - A few older people died at the time :( )

I was told when it's green you are very poorly (something like it was coming from the pancreas or bile duct...can't remember now after all these years!)

I'd certainly get EH to just check it out though - Whilst I was ill with it for weeks, hubby just had a dodgy tum for a few days . Others might not be affected by dodgy food so much as others, but if you have a weaker body than average it might well have detected something there.

But they can't really get a sample from me now? (I've not been since if I'm honest! Now i'm constipated!) I was too weak to do really eat let alone call upon EH. Heh. Other than the previous time where my meal gave me a bit of an upset, I've never had a poorly tummy involving chicken before so that could well be it. Just glad I didn't end up in A&E, been there wayyy too many times the past couple of years. I'm suspicious of my body. XD I had a meningitis type of rash, didn't fade under pressure, they had zero explanation for it. :s So I am probably more sensitive to things than others. Is it too late to call EH if I'm recovered?

Yeah, I don't have much of an appetite either, eating hurts. :(

@Wildwood. Usually the bloke served us but I haven't seen him in ages, (5 months, and I don't think he really recognised us then) he'd always be happy, greet us, ask how we were, ask how my trip was (We usually went there straight from the Station, me coming from Bham to Stafford so I had a suitcase!) and gave us free prawn crackers. :B

I went there for the first time last night and asked for a dish ive had dozens of times in other takeaways all of which i have enjoyed and it tasted like blackbean sauce and it was very dry all round. I cant stand blackbean sauce, yuk. I wont be going there again.
