Virgin Media broadband issues in Stafford - Sun 26th Aug 2012

We were having trouble with the internet this morning so did all the normal turn-it-off-and-on-agains but nothing made any difference. Rang VM and I was told there's an intermittent fault in the Stafford area at the moment which will be fixed by the 31-8-2012.

Got a £10 credit on the account for my troubles and it seems to be working again now. If you have problems and can cope with the Justin Bieber hold music, it might be worth a call.

thanks for the info - i'm on virgin, and thankfully everything has been ok for me, but the virgin media service status page confirms it:

yeah, people slag off virgin, and it is a nightmare to get hold of them sometimes, but i have always found they are happy to deal with your problem & compensate once you do get through to them

I don't think that service status is related to the issues I've had today. It's gone off a couple of times since I first posted. Back on again now though.

I'm never convinced by the info that comes out of the India call centres (other forums that deal with VM say the same) so if it's still broken tomorrow I'll give them another call.

Has anyone on Virgin mobile network been having trouble? My partner has been having great fun with both his mobile AND internet today. Virgin - not so popular at the moment lol

Virgin mobile uses the t-mobile network and there's been problems there as well. I'm with t-mobile and spent most of yesterday without any signal. I spoke to the customer services on twitter and they said there was some congestion due to a few transmitters in the area being worked on. It started working again not long after that.

Today has been ok but my gf's phone stopped working for a couple of hours tonight.

don't get me started on Virgin issues. Had broadband at my old house - no problems. Moved within the last 3 weeks and had services transferred - also took on TV including Tivo. Have had to unplug power on Tivo box 3 times for various problems (never had to unplug Sky +HD box once) and broadband problems - had engineer out once - one new Superhub... various problems with losing wireless connection. Been onto India 3 or 4 time suggesting changing wireless channel, changing SSID and still no avail. Hub randomly decides to shut itself down and reset. Had one clown suggest I need a wireless router to solve my problem (hang on isnt the superhub a wireless router) New netgear router appear in the post - which is not good to anyone. Sent an email of complaint in and waiting to hear back. Don't have Virgin phone line so each call costing me on my mobile. ready to explode!!!!!!!!!

Looks like it might be local to me (Highfields) rather that a Stafford issue according to CS. I have a fault reference now so I'm trying to get more information.

Funny, Mine seems a bit more stable, and speed more consistant here on Coton fields,
even the tv hasn't pixalated for a while.

We had a van outside our house playing with the green box for an hour last night. I did phone them up again for an update after he went (still wasn't working) and was given another £10 credit.

It's supposed to be fixed by 9am tomorrow! Fingers crossed :)

My broadband seems to have been off for the last 2 nights. As far as I'm aware it was between 20:30 and 08:00. I phoned Virgin Media last night while it was off and they said that there is maintenance going on in my area and completion ETA is Thu 6th Sept 2012.
They said I will not be charged for the duration the broadband is not working. Not sure if any of you guys are experiencing the same problem?

Well after a ruck of phone calls to CS I've finally had an engineer out today and (for now) it's working again.

Apparently there's been problems with noise in the area causing poor connections and networks aren't sure where it's coming from. On the 29th they came around a number of green boxes in the area and put some noise blocking hardware on all the connections to presumably try and work out where it's coming from. Anyway whatever they put on our connection completely killed it. The engineer today checked all our connections in the house to make sure it wasn't us causing the noise, spoke to networks to get permission to remove the blocker and removed it. Bingo, everything connected.

It's only temporary though as tomorrow the network engineer will be coming out and fiddling around in the box again :(

We've had lots of problems with our Virgin Broadband connection lately (TV has been ok though) . First time they said our old modem ,which we had had since 2007 ,had conked out and gave us a brand new wireless superhub.Have now had 3 new superhubs in the last couple of months as they reckon each one is 'knackered'.
Add to this on one call out they found that the connection from their green box down the road to our house wasn't sending signals out??? Adjusted something in the green box and we were up and running again.

I know they have come out the next day each time (didn't manage to get anything knocked off the bill though-will remember to ask next time!),but it's most frustrating lately wondering whether it will be working or not each day.

Good job we kept the phone with them or would have cost a fortune ringing and hanging on the line for ages each time.

You're on Wildwood too aren't you staffordjas? Sounds like the exact problem I continue to have. On our second "faulty" superhub - which without fail will reset itself at least 3 times a day randomly. Fed up of calling India to be told to do the same thing.
