Are the speed cameras working in Staffordshire?

Hope they have turned them off. Maybe at last they are putting safety ahead of jobs for the boys and empire building.

Quite easy to make it seem like cameras work. Wait until there is a blip in accidents at a spot then install a camera. Accident rate drops so it is claimed to be due to the cameras. Except that the rise in accidents was a blip and the rate would almost certainly have dropped anyway.

This is called regression to the mean and is a well known issue.

Despite this there were still some rises in the accident rates when cameras were installed at various sites in Brum.

All the best

I don't know anybody that's (admitted that they've) had a ticket from a fixed camera for the last couple of years.

Someone once got Norfolk Constabulary to admit that they hadn't had any film in any of theirs for over a year - for cost reasons.
I got a NIP through the post on Tuesday. I was caught speeding on the a51 near Dog and Doublet by a speed camera on April 7th. Obviously my fault but just letting folks know that the cameras are on and working!!

Just to confirm that the speed cameras on the M6 towards Brum definitely work! A lad I work with got a ticket for doing 75 in a 50 zone, so I assume the variable speed limit cameras were on showing 50mph.

You have been warned!

Driving through Penkridge on my daily commute this week I noticed the speed limit has gone from 40 to 30. No idea when it happened but I had wondered why everyone was going so slow :)

There's at least one camera in the 30 zone, but no idea if it's been changed to the new limit (or even if it works).

I do that journey every day, it happened on 31st May but I hope it wasn't implemented until 1st June... I guess I'd have a ticket by now otherwise.

If that's your daily commute and it took you the best part of two weeks to notice, I hope I'm never following you!

Actually following them is best because you can leave enough space to take avoiding action. It's when they are behind you that you're in trouble...
