I have to admit that I did get rather excited yesterday and kept checking news sites all day until it got to the point of "NEWS!! there is no news!!" memes appearing everywhere. Then when there was finally news I found myself quite let down it was a boy and not a girl. But then I also didn't think I was particularly excited about their wedding then accidentally watched the whole thing on TV "because it was on".

I hope they are all well and continue to be so! I'd love to know some of the "secret" info... like surely SOMEBODY important must have known the gender of the baby - must have been difficult to keep that secret all this time! And I wonder what sort of special care Kate had due to carrying the future ruler. That sort of thing fascinates me.

The provenance of the title Prince George of Cambridge in not very reassuring. He was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1819. Ducked out of a proposed marriage to Princess( later Queen) Victoria, instead marrying an actress. This marriage wventuall anulled by official decree, despite producing 3 children and he then took up a mistress. Was appointed Commander of the Army, 1856 - 1895. Endorsed promotion of officers on basis of social standing above ability and set back the British Army decades in so doing. Famously proclaimed " Brains, I don't believe in Brains". [Shamelessly plagiarised from yesterday's Times]

George Alexander Louis, no less.

If he follows his Grandpappy's choice of name order we could have Louis Rex on the throne after all - 800 years in waiting.

Personally i'd rather have King Louie.

By the way -

For those out there who are in to this sort of thing, there is a 'congratulatory' book in the High House to sign and send good wishes in - should you wish to send your felicitations and ting.

I was hoping for King Gary I.
But at least I get a laugh every time a newsreader says "Prince George".
