I had a Mac Classic about 1988 - with a massive 4Mb RAM. Good machine, but we had problems getting good development software/tools in this country.

... and an old dirty one that I wear when I hang around outside The Litten Tree

I've got an old i-Mac in its box. Bloody hate the thing, although I liked it when I first got it.

Like nearly all the 1st gen i-Macs owned by people I know, the modem broke after 3 years. Some of them just blew up.

Obligatory "Lol, Mac" post.

There, it's out of my system.
Explain please?
every internet forum since the dawn of time at one time or another is subject to "mac vs. PC" debates.. i think tapok was just trying to get this one out of the way lol..

i totally swallowed apple's marketing hyperbole a few years ago and bought a G4 powermac, convinced it was the best thing since sliced silicon.. obviously i was wrong.. if there's one thing apple know how to do, it's convince people their particular sector needs their hardware..

I have to say PC for most things but I defo prefer Macs for audio processing, video and 3D cause they don't crash or go, "Ha ha - fatal error, lost all yer work!"

The only reason I personally go with PCs when making a purchase is variety of software and support - although that doesn't seem to be so much of an issue now.

If someone turned up on my doorstep with a G5 going I wouldn't say no.

Have you guys seen Maddox's page on Mac Users? Had me lol'ing long and hard.

To be honest my experience with Mac's is too limited to be able to fairly slate the things, but with a lot of people I feel "Mac Hype" is part of the problem to the whole PC vs Mac War. The whole "It's the Mac community, it's the Mac lifestyle". It sounds silly.

Still, it's not half as silly as the iPhone.

The marketing is peno...phono....phene.. quite amazing.
My brother, who earns shit loads, visited not long ago from Aus and he's recently bought a Mac.
It was like listening to an advert.
He came out with all the spiel that "it just works" and such.

I'm effluent,I've got a Mac (copyrighted right here)

It should "just work"at three times the price to build your own.
His built in webcam smokes pole though and is going to have to buy a better one

am using both mac's and pc's at work (photography) - constantly going from one to another. once you get over the minor differences / idiosyncrasies theyre pretty much the same - just a tool for a job.

they both equally piss me off and turn me on.:grr:
