Best place see that is the turning to Crooked Bridge rd from Corporation St. Or, into Prospect rd. Many a numpty has stopped at the red light after taking the turning.

And into Riverway off the Weston Road - I see someone stop there after making the left turn at least once a week

Really? People should hand in their licence if they can't even understand basic left turns!!!

Yup - they turn the corner coming off the Weston Road, see the red light for traffic opposite coming out of Corporation Street and slam on the anchors

I never have understood how you can misinterpret that one, as the light itself is pretty close to the junction and you can hardly see it as you turn the corner...

They may be confused by the sign that says "No Access To A34 Lichfield Road", although it only refers to the weight restriction - I've found a bloke trying the turn round there with a caravan because of that...

.... a red light at a pedestrian crossing when there is no one in sight or people are walking away from it drives me to distraction !! I'm a pedestrian, car driver and cyclist and always follow the rules of the road/footpath depending on what I'm doing so get mega narked when the above happens. Not saying I've crossed a red light yet but it's only a matter of time ....

Stopped at the new lights at the bottom of Queensway, when the car in front decides because there are no cars coming on from the car park they no longer need to wait for the lights to change and carried on through the red light.

Just what happened an hr ago, white van tooting her, me beckoning her on,
still she sat looking at the red light for corporation st traffic.!!!

The only time you should maybe MAYBE go through a red light when it's really not busy, there's so many stupid traffic lights when there's no traffic at all, as long as it doesn't cause danger to anyone.

People are so inpatient nowadays though, it's incredible.

I'm pretty sure the only time it's allowable to go through a red light is to clear a junction to let an emergency services vehicle on blue lights through, ........................no?

I think if a traffic light has remained on red for an unreasonable time you can proceed with caution ? I doubt if 10 sec would count as unreasonable ;)

A lot of impatient people and up as inpatients.

People have been done for going through a red light to allow an emergency vehicle to proceed - mad, but true.

I've been in a taxi with a foreign driver. The foreign driver believed that if he beeped his horn the lights would change....I'm sure he thought all the lights were personally operated by a person somewhere. Very strange.

Stafford's Traffic flow is a major problem here, or the Lack of it! Because there's no flow drivers can sit and watch the lights change many times, so it's no wonder they block junctions. Blinkers need placing on lights that cause confusion, corp st etc.
Red lights for left turns? Why? No filter lights for Right turns? why? And of course there's far to many Traffic Lights.
With some 5000 houses being build in Stafford over the next few years, resulting in about 10000 cars on the roads, things are not going to get any better, with or without the new Doxey access road (Sorry, Western Access Route)

Are you saying that they do not model traffic flow in Stafford, they merely add a traffic light and there is no synchronisation. Or dare I say no thought as to location of lights. I think the evidence is there. Modelling and synchronisation costs money.

Far toooooo many lights. A pedestrian crossing was added to the Queensville roundabout to filter traffic into town from Silkmore Lane and Lichfield rd at an estimated cost of £80.000. Hasn't had any effect as the roundabout is blocked due to build-up heading into town. An extra set of lights have been added on Chell Rd prob another £80k. A walk way would be better, and as for the Tesco Junction!
