Selling a House without an agent

I had the same CaptainPish -

I made an offer on a house and was instantly told - oh no they won't accept that, they have already refused a higher offer this morning!

Knowing full well I had been the first and only viewer!

There is an estate agents ombudsman you can complain to if shit really hits the fan!

I found it hilarious that there is not actually a complaints department / number / contact for Bridgefords - they simply just don't care!

Anyway I'll leave now, I am bitterly ranting again...

We did our due diligence and shopped about and couldn't even get close to what we have now via Reeds Rains. Not everyone is out to get you!

I guess if you are selling a property and you know your neighbours sold their house in a week you might wonder why you should pay three grand

If you have a less des res then you probably need more effort

Have the Army moved in yet?

Bringing this thread back from the dead..... is anyone selling now or has done so recently? I'm getting close to putting mine on the market and can't decide between the traditional EA's and the online options.

Cheers @kyoto49 - I have looked at them and the various other online agents so will be interested on your feedback.

Most of me thinks that as long as the property is on RightMove and PrimeLocation then its not worth extra for newspaper ads and the like. What worries me about the online only, pay up-front types are once you pay then the cash is gone and there is no incentive for them to do anything extra or push to get you a sale.....

Have you had any quotes from other agents too?

TBH, my brother is sorting the details, I'm just having to show the valuer round, but no, no other agents have been involved. We have a rough idea of the value so will know how close Purple Bricks are to what we are expecting!

Thanks, look forward to hearing how you get on.

I've also just seen this one recommended: https://www.housesimple.com/selling/signup

A lot cheaper than all the other online options and still get floorplan, professional photos and listed on RM and PL....

Well so far Purple Bricks seems like any other estate agent! Chap turned up on time, took some pics or outside and advised on price, although I think he based this on a house that sold nearby as he had the zoopla report for the street with him. Not much more to say so far!!

No, I think we're just going with Purple Bricks, we aren't expecting any issues selling the house - good nick, great area, no chain etc, so don;t see how normal estate agents would earn the outragous fees they charge!!

We've sold our house twice through DB Roberts been really happy with them, shame about the buyers, both have pulled out. We found a lovely house which we were going to move to.

Third time lucky maybe.
