My brother used to do there and back in an hour to north end, my oh and I preferred to hydrate at every opportunity possible!

Re London-Surrey 100.
I regret to say that I too have been successful in the Ballot for entries.!
Having read the Congratulations Magazine I am bricking myself. All of the pictures of last year's event show Lycra clad athletes (male & female) atop feather-light miracles of modern velocipede engineering.
Where are the puffing red-faced MAMILs? Where are the old geezers on 7 year old hybrid bangers with straight bars? Christ, I am going to stand out like a turd in a swimming pool!
There is not one piece of Lycra in my wardrobe. My summer cycling attire is knotted handkerchief and baggy khaki shorts. In winter I am clad top to toe in (slightly baggy) ninja gear. (picture to follow). Actually, now that I think about, it when I have the full face covering on it looks vaguely like a male Burkha.
Flossietoo, help me out here. Are there any ordinary participants? Have they been airbrushed out of all the publicity stills? Was there anybody there last year on an ordinary bike? Any eejits?
Btw, though you say that it cannot get any worse, I seem to remember that the 2 highest mountains in Surrey - Bo(llo)x Hill and Leith(al) Hill were cut out because of the bad weather last . Which is hardly likely to occur again this year? Could we be that lucky?
I think F2 may have just been swept up at 91 miles - still a magnificent effort.
So I cycled all the way up the bloody thing...
Spare a thought for Van Avermaet in the Clásica San Sebastián - at least it didn't crash into you when on course to victory...At 4.45 a motorcycle blocked the road in front of me and I had to climb into a van.
I am also not sure, @monkey bidness, whether or not to hope that the 4.5kg was merely your wallet......
