Swan Food Prices

Finally got to venture into The Swan the other day, some 10 weeks after moving here, I'd been told it was expensive and I think I paid £2.90 for my pint of premium lager, so I was not surprised. As a smoker I sat outside at the rear and glanced at the sandwich prices (cough, cough) and then in the Gents saw the full menu which was about £17 quid for a steak!!!!! I thought it had a lovely ambience but is the food that good? I don't mind paying good money for good food, but I don't ever see me willing to pay those sort of prices.

Mr s is right tis classed as the place to go for the not so skint . However I would just like to say that I wouldnt go there again ..the food was not anywhere near the standard I would expect for the price charged.. and the service wasn't really all that great .. bit slow to be honest . Obviously can't say if that was a typical service or just an off day . Overall tho I would save the pennies and go elsewhere

I've eaten there three times, two of them being weddings, and a few years back for my birthday. On that occasion they forgot to charge us for the bottle of wine and the side orders with our main meal, turned out to be a cheap night out.

On the whole, nice food but nothing memorable.

I find Pastiche is really hit and miss. I know it's not much of a gamble for a tenner, but even so - you never know whether you're going to go on a Jekyl night or a Hyde night.

jimbob, you can't blame your split personality disorder on the quality of a meal

The thing that would grate on me, if I was affluent enough to frequent the Swan, would be sharing the bogs with the Riff Raff. I was in there on a pre-Xmas night, the gents were swilling in urine and vomit, and unless I am mistaken, the diners have to share toilet facilities with the bar!

I have once eaten in there, it was very good, but not up to the standard of The Moathouse, and I didn't think it warranted the extra wonga! I did however spend the night after my wedding in the establishment, and can report that it served my requirments admirably, the breakfast was excellent, and the Venerabl Mrs Seed had a broad grin on her boat race!
