wedding venues

wanna see my snake?
Depends on capacity required and price willing to spend. Also, are we talking the wedding itself, or the do afterwards, or both?

not having ever been a bride and having only been to a handful of weddings in stafford, i suppose it depends on what you want from the venue.

what type of food, sit down, buffet, their caterers or brought in by yourself?

disco?

bar?

luxury surroundings or cheap and functional.

inside or outside?

oh, and what tek-monley said too.

if you can help us with some of them, im sure we can get our thinking caps on for you. :)
(its more interesting than doing some work ;) )

If you have a reasonably large crowd comin you could do alot worse than the old universal suite on doxey road. It's a huge venue and you can mix and match your reqs with the guy who runs it . We had our reception there and it was great . Loadsa room , bar, sort out your own disco, live band decor etc etc ..

very reasonably priced too

I agree with jhech, they can alter the size of the room to suit the size of the party. The food is good and the bar is reasonably priced. If I remember rightly, you don't pay for the room just the food and drink. You would have to check on that though.

I have been to many good party's here, including my own wedding reception (but that was almost 15yrs ago) I also had my 40th there.

WELL recommended.

Yip, Yip!

Venerable Mrs Seed and I tied the knot 4 years ago at the Registry Office, followed by a reception for forty at home, then The Universal on the night. Massive, holds 350, we had 200 and it was great. They do have smaller rooms. Karoke went on a bit too long, but my opening with Mac The Knife was well recieved!

The Polish club/white eagle is popular due to it's size and price, though bookings run into the next 12mths and beyond.
I recently used Oddfellows Hall on the high street for our wedding, 100 cap, which is perfect for a smaller party its £50ph..ideal for guests getting into Stafford/hotels/registery office 2 mins walk.

Other suggestion:
Moat House
The Swan
Universal
Tillington Hall
Shugborough Est

Weston hall is nice as well.

We were the first to have a reception there 10 years ago and stayed there 2 weeks ago for our anniversary.

As a former Keele student, I feel it is my duty to recommend Keele Hall - if you want to get minorly ripped off... It is very pretty there though! :) It's just a bit of a bugger to get to - but it's worth it!

Keele University switchboard number is 01782 621111 is I remember rightly - you should get to speak to the right person eventually...

If you're after a slightly smaller venue, then try Oddfellows hall. That's where we're having our reception in December after our Registry Office marriage. We're looking at about 150 people coming.

Keele has a Chapel - there's also a church in the village, and it's only a couple of miles from 'Castle where there are more churches.

Oddfellows Hall is a decent option, we're considering it.

Can't afford the Moat House which is a shame as I quite like it, although the misses isn't too keen.

The Gatehouse Theatre do weddings most weekends over the summer and in fact there is one on this Saturday. The Wedding Co-ordinators are very thorough and professional and you won't break the bank.
