Bins!

I'm just curious - is there any response when other people dump stuff in your bin?

I've just opened my recycling to find it brim full with the packaging for a cooker that definitely wasn't installed at my house. Hopefully it might get taken next collection, but just in case it isn't is my only option to drive it to the tip myself?
Mmm, the fact that it is in a bin doesn't really stop it constituting fly-tipping, does it?

That and kneecapping who did it if you can find them, I'm afraid.

We once left our green bin out when we were away for a short break (and our then neighbour forgot to bring it in for us) only for it to be filled with stuff obviously dumped by the rangers. Our own rubbish had to be taken to the tip by me. Rangers denied it was them of course but as they normally do such I good job I'll let them off...

Once upon a time...

I was working at a campsite in France.

We had a day off, so i decided to walk what was approximately 5 miles (or 8km in newold money) to Grasse.

Within sight of the town, in what can only be described as 'idyllic' surroundings, i took a rest under a tree that offered some shade - it was what one might call blisteringly hot even though it was now autumn.

It was an apricot tree, and i was surrounded by fallen fruit. I gorged myself upon them. In the intervening years i have often bought apricots, hoping them to be what i knew they could be. Not once has any of them even approached any of those that lay about me all those years ago.

Now i love Apricots for very different reasons.

And another bank holiday (good job the people at work reminded me ...)
In Weeping Cross / Baswich, we've got blue and brown bins collected tomorrow morning instead of Monday.

I put my bin out late at night and try to check my contents before the binmen arrive, as once I found loads of car parts dumped on top of my own recycling stuff. Luckily I was in time to stick them back in the bin of the neighbour who had been working on his car the previous day!

That same neighbour lent another neighbours brown bin a few weeks ago, and both got left un-emptied with rejection notices on them. Now today their blue bin had a rejection notice on

My neighbours get two/three/four bins rejected a month....

Anyone else's bin day changed as of
this week? Got the new calendar in the post in a letter people might be tempted to ignore so worth a double check.

Surely the cost of the 'consultants' involved in this change of bin days, together with the cost of printing and then postage of the change letters makes any cost-saving negligible.

However, it is in keeping with the whole ethos of Veolia.

Ours moved from Monday to Tuesday. If they come before 7 this will cause us an issue.

My bin day changed from Friday to Tuesday. I checked on the website to see if a last collection might be done on Friday but it was not shown as such so I did not put the bin out.

Friday morning at 8:30 a bin wagon arrived and started emptying the green bins. :hmm: Except mine. :grr:

Ours changes from a Monday to wednesday. Got 2 weeks running of blue/ brown bins now and showing as going 3 weeks for next green bin.
Did wonder whether the green would be collected this Monday as well, but website shows not and says extra bags will be collected on the first pickup after changeover if going more than 14 days.. ( after seeing it mentioned on 'spotted)
