Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
After 30 years of putting the bins out on Monday, I now have to remember to put it out on Thursday.

I think it’s shoddy that SBC has let a contractor dictate when bins will be emptied.

It would be interesting to have an opinion from an involved party* about just how much more efficient the new system is, after a settling in period.

*I mean somebody actually involved in doing the work, rather than some "executive".

I'd trust a contractor over the council any day of the week....

My bin day has definitely changed before. Anyway, apart from us all probably forgetting a few times, I'm not sure what the big deal is.
I was a Monday person for the first few years - with all the Bank Holiday trauma that that could cause - I presume I became a Thursday person when the Biffa phase began..?

In Ireland, our bin boys will text you the evening before...

What has ‘trust’ got to do with anything?

The SBC are the client. They should be telling whoever the new contractor is that the bin collection days should not change not letting them dictate when.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Is a change of day really that much of a problem though.

I'd imagine, on the extensive list of things senior mismanagement at SBC don't give a toss about, that bin collection days would be pretty high up.

Almost as high up as value for taxpayers money would be, in fact.

Ours used to be Wednesdays for years, then changed to Mondays, now back to Wednesdays from this week starting with the blue/brown .Actually managed to fill both the blue (mostly cider cans) and brown bins in a week this time, so 2 weeks of recycling collections has worked out well!

Wondering if all those down our road who have put their green bin out tonight know something I don't know about an extra green bin collection tomorrow as well as the new wednesday collections, just living in hope of it being collected, or just not bothered reading the calendar that came though the door.....

Ours changes from a Monday to wednesday. Got 2 weeks running of blue/ brown bins now and showing as going 3 weeks for next green bin.
Did wonder whether the green would be collected this Monday as well, but website shows not and says extra bags will be collected on the first pickup after changeover if going more than 14 days.. ( after seeing it mentioned on 'spotted)

Mine is the same. Green bin is almost full as it is. 3 weeks in this weather = pongy bin!

I've only got one of those titchy green bins as well since someone nicked my shiny clean normal size one. I've got it all double bagged , but still pongs with this heat .
Loads more green bins been put out at the top of our shared part of the driveway this morning. Hope they aren't all going to sit there for another 9 days yet !

The 180 litre is meant to be an opt-in thing so it might be worth giving the Recycling and Waste team a nag.

Saw a load of green bins put out for emptying on Fairview Way when I walked the dogs earlier. Their new day is Wednesday and the next day for greens bins is the 11th.

The change of day message certainly hasn't got through there.
